I unboxed my Origins skincare set around six weeks ago (see here) but in reality I've been using this eye cream for over two months because it took me a while to get the unboxing post up.

While I do like most of the products I've tried from the set so far, this eye cream doesn't work for me because it doesn't do enough and I'll be looking forward to finishing it. More on that below.

Origins claims/product details:

Verdict

This eye cream isn't very good and I don't recommend it, although it's had some reasonable reviews on Mecca's website so perhaps it works well for many people but just doesn't suit my dry, 38yo skin. 

It's a pale peach cream that's very lightweight in texture and feels more like a gel on the skin. It has a faint fragrance that's barely detectable and shouldn't bother most people.

The product has a sheen to it and they've obviously put something reflective in the formula to fool you into thinking that the cream itself is making your eye area look more awake. It doesn't, but my eyes do look a bit shiny after use - which isn't a good thing in my case because all that does is emphasise my under-eye bags and also my eye-hoods.

As for what it does, it doesn't do much for me. It's not hydrating enough so my eyes always feel uncomfortable underneath this product and I'm often forced to put some oil on them after use so they don't feel so dry.

Note also that I'm not sure how well this product absorbs. What it does do is leave a shiny coating on the skin that's rather tacky, but in terms of delivering nourishment, this product falls down. Indeed, my eyes have looked and felt dry while I've been using this so I'll be glad to get through it.

On the claims: no I don't think this brightens or de-puffs; no it doesn't make my eyes look less tired; no it doesn't do anything for signs of fatigue or swelling; and no it doesn't hydrate or soften my eye area. Indeed, all this product does is add some unflattering shine to my eyes, which effectively highlights my imperfections.

Overall I don't like this product and I can't recommend it. I need something with more punch than this. It hasn't done anything good for my eye area and my eyes have felt dry throughout the testing period so I'm looking forward to using something else.
