I bought these two blushes at the beginning of the year in the Violet Box shop. I had some points to use up and, at that time, my blush collection was rather small (not anymore!).

I liked the look of these and Google told me they'd had some great reviews - with many commenting on their high pigment, blendability and staying power - so really, I did well to only buy two ; )

I chose these two because I'm orange/coral obsessed (my golly, you must be sick of hearing that by now...). Glowing Goddess is described as 'a medium peach with a hint of shimmer' and Raspberry Tart as 'a shimmery, mid-tone dusty coral with a bronze undertone'. Those descriptions are pretty accurate.

Usage tips:

Swirl brush in blush and tap off excess
Lightly stroke the blush across the apples of your cheeks, starting from the hairline and working in
For bronzer, use a wide blush brush and apply bronzer lightly across your cheekbones, along your temples and across the top of your forehead to give a sun-kissed look
To add definition to your cheekbones, use a blush to add glow and use a bronzer to define

Below I'm wearing Glowing Goddess on my cheeks and Raspberry Tart above my eyes, so you can see the difference between the two colours. Glowing Goddess is a gorgeous, light peach, and Raspberry Tart a lovely terracotta.

Again, Glowing Goddess on my cheeks and Raspberry Tart above my eyes. I've used a light touch - you could apply them heavily for more punch.

Verdict

AMAZING blushes, and especially for the price! Seriously, I can't rave enough about these.

Glowing Goddess has become my go-to blush for everyday wear because it's such a pretty colour, and because it allows me to apply heavier eye makeup or a bright lipstick without looking overdone. (And to think I only decided on Glowing Goddess at the last minute, and was initially going to buy Blind Date instead! Mind you, I kinda still want Blind Date... Ha.)

I use Raspberry Tart if I want my cheeks to be the focus, and I'm wearing a nude lip and less eye makeup.

What I love about these is that they're super-pigmented, so you only need a little and the products will last for ages. They also come in a range of gorgeous, wearable colours and last well throughout the day. They're blendable and easy to work with. What else can I say?

If you need a new blush and have some Violet Box points to use up, I'd definitely consider buying one of these : )

The Revlon illuminator was one of the better products in the box, and one I got lots of use from. While it's not the best illuminator I've used, it's a decent product for the price and one I'd consider purchasing if I could get it on special (because I'm a specials junkie ; ) ).

While the colour is fine on me and nice and sheer, I would have picked the bronze shade if I'd had an option. The third colour option is 'bare', a nude shade. For more details, see Revlon's website.

You can see the whole luminous thing happening above : ). The only thing I'll say about this is that, while finely milled, the glitter particles are noticeable if you look closely enough. I'd prefer a sheen, rather than little dots. But these aren't the most noticeable bits of glitter I've seen.

Verdict

I'd say this product does live up to its claims, although I'm not sure how it protects skin from the environment. It adds a beautiful, sheer sheen, is nice and runny (so you don't end up applying it too thickly) and does the job well.

I wouldn't wear it alone though, at least on my face - I reckon you'd look too shiny. I add some to my primer and put foundation or BB cream over the top for one of those fabled 'lit from within' glows. It has good staying power and the tube will last ages because you only need a little to get the desired effect.

I also put some on my collarbones for definition, and in summer I apply it to the tops of my shoulders and maybe my legs too. Just for fun : )

As mentioned, while this isn't the best illuminator I've tried, it's certainly a decent one for the price. I might look out for sales and see if I can pick up the bronze colour in future.
