Earlier in the year I bought four Pixi products from Beautybay because I'd heard great things about the brand and had been dying to try a few things. Happily it's not an expensive line to start with, but if you wait for sales like I did, it's even more reasonable so it's worth keeping an eye out for specials.

While I wasn't wowed by the fabled Pixi Glow Tonic (reviewed here - I prefer my Alpha-H Liquid Gold) and I found the Pixi Glow Mist to be very disappointing (reviewed here), both this Overnight Glow Serum and the Nourishing Sleep Mask (reviewed here) are fantastic products and I recommend both.

Pixi claims/product details:
  • A concentrated exfoliating gel that helps reveal a more even and radiant skintone overnight
  • A miracle treatment that smooths, soothes and brightens dull and lacklustre complexions
  • Removes dead skin cells and surface impurities to reveal a radiant, glowing complexion
  • Enriched with 10% glycolic acid and arginine
  • Fades the appearance of sunspots and uneven skintone over time
  • Noticeably reduces fine lines and wrinkles

Verdict

This is a great product and I recommend it. It mightn't be as effective as my HG Alpha-H Liquid Gold (another glycolic acid product, reviewed here), but it's a tad more gentle than that - while still giving good results - so it's one to consider if you're sensitive to glycolic and need a 'starter' product.

It's a light, gel formula that absorbs beautifully into the skin and immediately brightens the complexion. I use glycolic acid products because they make my skin look and feel more awake, and this definitely achieves that - both immediately and the morning after use.

I like that the product comes in sturdy packaging that doesn't let in any light (this helps protect the contents so they don't degrade as quickly over time), and I also like that the dropper comes separately so the product is well-sealed and protected before you open it. The dropper also helps you control application - a plus because I'm one of those people who's liable to squirt out or dispense too much.

The serum does have a resurfacing, exfoliating effect and my skin feels smoother and looks more even after use. It also has an effect on the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, so my face happily looks a few years younger when I use this. Always a good thing!

On the claims: I do think this helps reveal a more radiant and even skintone; it does smooth, soothe and brighten dull skin; I think it does remove dead skin cells and surface impurities (and my skin has been nicely clear since I started using this); plus it does reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles - at least for the period you're using it.

The only claim I don't think the product meets is the one relating to sunspots and pigmentation. I haven't noticed any reduction in the appearance of those over time, but then, few products achieve this for me so I'm not surprised and the serum doesn't lose points on that front.

All in all, this is a great product for the price and it's one I would recommend and may well repurchase in future. It's not super expensive, it does what it's meant to do and a little goes a long way so the bottle should last a good while - particularly if you don't use it every day (I use mine on alternate evenings).

A winner.

I received this product to review last month and I was super pleased to see it because I'd just run out of the facial oil I was using and definitely needed a replacement. As a dry-skinned lass, oils have long been an essential part of my skincare routine and probably always will be, so I've tried a lot over the years and am always happy to try more.

Happily this is a great little facial oil and I'm really enjoying using it - plus it's probably the best rosehip oil I've used to date - but more on all that below.

Verdict

This is a really lovely facial oil and I'm glad I've tried it because it's on my radar now and I may well buy it in future. I've tried a few rosehip oils before but none of them really grabbed me like this one did.

It's a lightweight oil that smells gently of rosehip, feels beautiful and just melts into the skin. It somehow manages to be hydrating without feeling too oily - a plus because I wouldn't use it in the morning before makeup application if it were too heavy. This I can happily use both morning and evening in place of my serum.

After use, my skin feels nourished and comfortable. This is important for me because my skin is super dry so I need oils and heavier creams to target any tightness and dehydration. This one does the job nicely, and I find I can use a lighter cream over it because it does the hard work for me.

As for whether it does things like address pigmentation, acne and scarring, it's hard to say - I would need to test it for longer and do so without my other skincare (which also claims to address those issues). Mind you, I'd be surprised if it did anything for pigmentation or scarring because I've seen no difference over the month that I've used it. I haven't had any break-outs, however, and it doesn't clog pores so that's a plus.

I do think it generally meets its other claims and I feel that it's helped with things like elasticity, firmness and fine lines (at least temporarily). So if you have dry skin that's over 30 like I do, you might really like this product and it's a good one to try because it doesn't break the bank.

Do note that I need to apply twice the recommended amount - although I usually do anyway because my dry skin absorbs product like no tomorrow, so that's not surprising.

Overall I like this product and recommend it. It's kept my dry skin happy without being too greasy and it's not expensive so I may well buy it in future.

Lovely.
