As you may know, I've made it my business over the past year to buy a bunch of Trilogy products and test them, because I know a lot of people swear by Trilogy so I wanted to put the brand to the test.

Next up is this night cream, which I've been using for around three months now so I'm definitely ready to post on it. In sum, I think it's nice and I'm enjoying using it, but it hasn't done anything amazing for me so I wouldn't buy it again. More on that below.

As you can see, the product comes with a spatula - and looks like I received two of them by mistake. No complaints there: I'll certainly use them.

I'm always happy to receive spatulas with products and the inclusion should satisfy those who don't like dipping their fingers into pots.

Trilogy claims/product details:

  • Regenerate and rejuvenate your complexion with hyaluronic acid, marula and Glycablend™
  • With a luxurious texture and a subtle, sophisticated fragrance, our easily absorbed nighttime moisturiser deeply nourishes and repairs while you sleep
  • A potent blend of nourishing bio-actives, including co-enzyme Q10 and our latest innovation Glycablend™, this cream assists the skin’s natural process of regeneration, helping to restore elasticity and suppleness while smoothing fine lines and wrinkles
  • RRP $56.95 AUD for 60ml, but do shop around

Do note that you never need to pay full price for Trilogy products because they're available from Priceline, meaning you can just wait for one of Priceline's 40% off sales.

Indeed, I wouldn't pay full price for this because it's quite expensive for a pharmacy product, and in any event, there's no point paying that much for something when you don't need to.

There's what it looks like:

Verdict

This is a nice cream and while I've been happy to use it, it hasn't struck me in any special way so I wouldn't buy it again. Still, it's fine and I would recommend it if you want a plain, nourishing moisturiser for night - especially one that you can find heavily discounted if you wait for specials.

It's a white cream that has a slightly odd, plastic-like scent, but it's not a strong fragrance and I'm only aware of it if I hold the product up to my nose. It spreads and applies well, and it also absorbs well - something I appreciate because I've run into issues with Trilogy products that don't absorb well before.

I've been using this for the last three months and while at first I was using it as my dedicated night cream (so I applied it after my serum), eventually I decided to use it as my overnight cream because it wasn't performing back-flips for me so I thought it would work better as a last step to seal-in my other products.

I think it suits the overnight spot because it does leave behind a protective film on the skin that I reckon helps coat my other products and ensure they're kept against my skin (rather than coming off on the pillow). I also find that it helps keep my dry skin feeling comfortable and protected until morning.

On the claims: yes I do think this helps nourish and moisturise my skin; no I don't think it has a sophisticated fragrance (actually it has quite a bad one, although thankfully it's not strong); yes I do think it helps my skin feel more soft and more supple; and no I don't think this does anything towards helping my skin regenerate or smoothing out my fine lines.

Overall I think this is a good, basic moisturiser but it hasn't done anything magical for me and I've certainly used better creams, even in this price-bracket. For me, this is best suited for use as an overnight cream that seals-in my other products, and while I'm enjoying using it because it's hydrating and protective, I wouldn't buy it again.

Fine.

As you may know, a while ago I unboxed an Origins skincare set (see here) and I've been slowly using and reviewing each item in turn.

Next up is this moisturiser, which I've been using for two months now as my day cream so I would like to review it before I finish it, which will happen soon because it's only 30ml in size.

Long story short, I do like it but it's not hydrating enough for my dry skin so I wouldn't buy it, although I think it would be ok for normal to oily skin because it's nice to use and it's not too expensive.

Origins claims/product details:

  • The complexion is left looking plump, soft and and luminous
  • Skin that has lost its lustre will greatly benefit from this botanical-packed moisturiser that aims to simultaneously brighten and hydrate skin
  • Natural caffeine-rich extracts such as coffee bean and panax ginseng give skin an instant reboot, while vitamin b shields skin from environmental damage
  • The added bonus of magnolia bark, which is loaded with light-diffusing minerals, helps fade dark spots and diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation
  • This lightweight, citrus-scented formula revitalises and rejuvenates skin to promote a healthy-looking radiance
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • RRP $41 AUD for 50ml

Verdict

I think this is an ok moisturiser and it's been fine now that the weather is warming up so my skin isn't as dry, but long-term I personally need something more hydrating so I wouldn't buy it again.

It's a lightweight, cream/gel hybrid and it smells fresh like oranges. It spreads and applies well, and it feels soothing and cooling when applied.

Once this dries down, it leaves a tacky finish on the skin that won't be for everyone, and I've also noticed that it leaves my face feeling quite dry so I normally opt to use an oil underneath it to solve that problem.

I think what's happening is that it isn't absorbing properly and delivering moisture into my skin, but instead it's forming a protective barrier over the face that may suit some but it doesn't work for me. I need something that gets in there and brings comfort to my dry skin, and this product doesn't do that.

On the claims: yes I do think this refreshes and brightens but the effects are only on the surface of the skin; no I don't think it softens or plumps the skin; no it doesn't hydrate well; and no it hasn't done anything for my age spots or hyperpigmentation.

Overall this moisturiser is ok but I think it would suit normal to oily skin types better because it doesn't do enough for my dry skin in terms of hydration or nourishment. Still, it's not awful and it's been fine for spring while my skin isn't as dry as usual.

Ok.
