Just for today

Thought I'd share a short poem I wrote a while back.

What small things keep you going each day - food, reading, music? I'd love to hear.

Just for today

Sometimes I wonder how it’s done.
How we just
get through the day.

Eyes open, teeth brushed,
work done.

House cleaned, rubbish out,
vacuuming considered.

And so this is it.
This storming towards the dusk.

This horizon that flatlines and yet
splits with these troughs.

The peaks are the level.

But the words paint the grey
silver and chime,
chime through the quiet.

Just for today, I’m all right.
