MOR Essentials Honey Nectar Triple-milled Soap - review

We've been going through a bit of a soap phase in our house lately, for no other reason than that we've had a few floating around and I've wanted to use them. While I generally opt for hand and body washes in liquid form, a fancy soap or two won't go astray and I'm always up for trying something new from MOR.

I do quite like this particular soap, but it's not as good as the MOR blood orange version I've commandeered for personal use (reviewed here) and my husband agrees that he's tried nicer products from the brand. He's the soap man in this house, so if he says other MOR soaps are better than this one, I'm inclined to believe him. More on all that below.

MOR Essentials claims/product details:
  • A fragrant, triple-milled soap bar that nourishes the skin
  • Triple-milled soap is refined three or more times through a heavy duty roller mill, which crushes the soap crystals into a fine paste – making their lather much smoother, creamier and more luxuriant than normal soaps
  • Contains vitamin e to moisturise, soothe and nourish
  • Contains glycerin to improve, protect and hydrate dry skin
  • Contains shea butter for superior moisture
  • Available in five unique fragrances
  • The fragrance: sweet brown sugar melts into golden honey nectar on a base of candied almonds and vanilla milk
  • RRP $9.95 AUD for 160g, but do shop around

Verdict

This is a nice product and I'm glad I've tried it.

It's a decent-sized oblong of soap with a gentle honey vanilla scent. The fragrance isn't as strong and rich as other MOR soaps I've tried, which is one of the reasons I don't like it as much as the soaps I've used from the MOR Emporium range (the round ones with paper packaging, the blood orange version being one of those).

It lathers and cleans well without stripping the skin, but I have found that it doesn't lather as much as the MOR Emporium versions, and it doesn't feel as creamy or luxe either. Also, the round versions make my skin softer and they also feel more hydrating, so I'd pick one of those over these any day. My husband agrees with all of this, and says that he could immediately tell the difference in quality between the two products.

Mind you, the round versions are double the price of these oblong ones, so that might explain why they strike me as the superior soap - although I don't know what's different about them in terms of ingredients and how they're made, that makes them better and more expensive.

You can usually find one of these MOR soaps on special somewhere and they make good presents - even for those of us who have beauty products coming out of our ears. If I can find room for one more MOR soap in my bathroom, then I'm sure others can too ; )

All in all, this is a decent product and I think it's good for the price, but I wouldn't buy it again: instead I'd prefer to pay a little more and choose a MOR soap that I like better.

Lovely.
