The big declutter 2016: declutter round #2
/
0 Comments
Let it be said that when you look at my (rather measly) little pile of products to declutter above, I'm quite aware that calling this 'the big declutter' is somewhat ridiculous ; )
But do remember that this declutter series is about a process of things I've been doing to streamline my collection (including depotting items into Z-palettes, finally getting through travel-sized samples etc), and also that this isn't the first dedicated declutter I've done all year - nor may it be the last.
I'll leave the preamble there because I've had computer issues all morning so I haven't been able to edit the second round of photos I took for this post (these unfortunately aren't great, but I'll live with them), so I'd best get the writing done while both kids are asleep.
Flormar Eyeshadow Quad in P046 and Lust Have It Sunset Strobe Highlighter
Both these items were received from Lust Have It and I'm going to pass them on as gifts because they're brand new and I haven't even swatched them.
The Flormar eye quad is too cool and I won't use the colours because they won't suit me, and while I quite like the LHI highlighter (reviewed here), I already have one - I'm panning it for Project Pan as we speak - and I don't need a second.
Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands, OCC Lip Tar in Cha Cha and Maybelline Color Elixir Color Sensational Creamy Lip Lacquer in Fuchsia Flourish
The Burt's Bees lip crayon was sent to me for review and I was expecting to love it but unfortunately I just didn't: it's waxy and drying and I don't like the feel of it on my lips. I've reviewed it here.
The OCC Lip Tar I've had for too long so it's time to throw it out because it's too old to pass on (full review here). These are much-loved products in the beauty community but unfortunately I never liked this because it sat in lip lines and didn't provide an even colour. I did include it in last year's Project Pan - so it's had plenty of use - but I had no luck making a dent in it (there's so much product!) so it's time to say goodbye.
I love these Maybelline lip lacquers but I received this one in a sub box and hot pink doesn't suit me so I won't wear it (I've reviewed it here). I haven't used it much so I know I can find a home for it easily because it's a nice shade, but it just isn't for me.
Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon and Stiks Cosmetiks Lipstik in Red
The Hourglass product came in a Mecca Beauty Loop box and I don't like it because I find it super drying and uncomfortable on my already dry lips. Full review here. It is however a nice shade and Hourglass is of course a good brand, so I'd rather pass this on to a better home while it's still usable.
The Stiks lipstick came from Maslow & Co, and while I still plan to review it (hopefully soon), I already know that I'll be passing it on because red doesn't suit me and it's not a colour I'll wear. I'm definitely interested in trying the formula however and reporting back on how I find it, so I'll try to do that in the next few weeks before giving it to someone who'll make good use of it.
Be a Bombshell Mechanical Eyeliner in Bling Bling and Ofra Lip Liner in Wine
Both these products came from Lust Have It and I won't use them so it's time to move them out of my collection.
The Be a Bombshell Eyeliner is just rubbish: it's super hard and it's difficult to get any pigment from the product. Yes I could warm it before application, but I don't need it so I'd rather declutter it because I don't need any more gold eye products. Full review here.
I already have one of these Ofra Lip Liners and I don't need two so I'd rather include this unused one in a Christmas present to someone who'll like it. I've reviewed it here. I also don't love the product because it tugs when applied and I find it super drying on my lips, but you can get around that by wearing a hydrating gloss over the top so I'm sure that someone will be happy to receive it.
In sum
Apologies for the rushed post! If you don't know, we just arrived home from the hospital yesterday with our new little boy, so blog posts will most likely be rather rushed in the coming weeks - but I'd still like to do them because I think it's important to do something for yourself each day when you're in the clutches of early parenthood: it helps you feel more human ; )
I'm glad I've managed to declutter a few more things from my collection and I plan to do some more decluttering before the end of the year, so stay tuned for that if you're interested.
