Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face Superscreen SPF 50+ - review
/
0 Comments
This year we received Mecca's SPF 50+ as our birthday present from the brand, and I couldn't have been happier with the gift because I've wanted to buy this ever since first sampling it last year.
Problem was, I had other facial sunscreens to get through and so there seemed no point in adding this to the pile until I'd made room for it. Happily I've now finished the last dedicated sunscreen I had in my stores, so this one has taken pride of place on my bathroom shelves and I can't see this changing any time soon (spoiler: this is an HG product, no doubt).
I like the sleek black packaging of this tube and it's one I'm happy to whip out in public and have on display in the bathroom at home.
Indeed, there's nothing about this product that I don't like: even the $40 AUD asking price for the full-sized tube seems reasonable to me, and I'm yet to find another facial sunscreen that's this good and doesn't cost over $50.
Mecca claims/product details:
- From the best-selling Mecca Cosmetica To Save Face 30+, comes an even more protective 50+ sunscreen
- This luxe facial sunscreen is the same lightweight, non-greasy, ultra hydrating formula you know and love, and is a favourite for SPF protection under makeup
- The beauty super sunscreen provides broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays in a hydrating matte finish cream
- Containing SPF 50 with hyaluronic acid, pomegranate extract and vitamin e in a non-oily and non-whitening formula, this weightless SPF formula acts as the perfect makeup base while preventing premature ageing caused by the damaging effects of the sun
- RRP $40 AUD for 75ml; or $18 AUD for 30ml
Verdict
This is the best facial sunscreen I've ever used and I've given it an HG tag. Honestly, if you haven't tried this or the original SPF 30+ version, I urge you to grab a sample because there's nothing else I've found on the market that's this good and doesn't cost too much.
It's a thick, pink-tinted cream that spreads and absorbs well. It doesn't have an offensive sunscreen scent and it vanishes into your skin beautifully.
Best thing is, this doesn't give you 'sunscreen ghost' face or leave behind a greasy residue. Somehow it manages to hydrate my dry skin and protect it in the process, and it gives the perfect non-oily base for makeup application.
Better still, it's one of those rare facial sunscreens that you can apply over makeup throughout the day without disturbing what's underneath. Most facial sunscreens 'dissolve' or lift any makeup I'm wearing and leave my skin looking greasy. This one doesn't. Instead you can pat it over your makeup to keep your skin protected, and if you're careful, your makeup should still look just as good as it did before application.
Also, it doesn't clog pores or break me out - and if the reviews on the Mecca website are anything to go by, most people would say the same thing. So if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, it's worth testing this to see if it works for you where other sunscreens have failed.
All in all, I can't fault this product and I can't imagine ever being without it. Best facial sunscreen on the market, hands down.
Love.
