Urban Skincare Co Cityscape Body Bar - review
/
0 Comments
I did my first full review of a soap product yesterday so I thought I may as well continue with that theme.
Next up is Urban Skincare's body bar, which I received when I made a small order of a travel-sized pack (using an LHI discount - huzzah!) because Urban Skincare was running an upgrade promotion at the time and I was one of the lucky ones to get more products than I'd paid for (huzzah again).
As I mentioned in yesterday's post of the L'Occitane soap, I'm not a soap person and much prefer body gels and scrubs. But I've used enough soaps by now that I feel able to comment on each product I wind up with via subscription boxes etc (I only get soaps this way because I don't actively buy them).
Even though I pass all soap products on to my husband, I do use them when he leaves them in the shower so I can include them in my empties posts and also my sub box reviews, so I figured it was time to start writing up full reviews.
Anyhoo. The Urban Skincare Cityscape Body Bar. It's well-presented, yes? See photos below.
Urban Skincare claims/product details:
- Our plant-derived body bar comes with an arsenal of ingredients specifically formulated to remove dirt and debris, without any harsh stripping
- Oligogeline® provides a moisturising barrier, helping maintain optimal hydration
- Trace minerals refresh tired skin by providing essential nutrients
- Coriander oil alleviates dryness and minor irritations, protecting skin from the free radical exposure and stresses of your everyday routine; antibacterial, antifungal and rich in vitamins A & C, coriander oil also soothes and alleviates aggravated skin conditions and normalises skin function
- RRP $8.95 AUD for 100g
Verdict
Let it be said that is quite an expensive soap - more expensive even than the L'Occitane one I reviewed yesterday. The difference being that I feel the L'Occitane soap is worth the expense, but I'm not sure this one is.
While this soap is beautifully presented and looks special (you have to love the clean black and white lines of the packaging), I don't think that its look translates to its performance.
It smells ok but the scent isn't strong and delicious enough for me: I prefer my body products to smell divine. This has a faint smell but it's nothing to write home about, so the scent doesn't add to the experience of using it.
The soap gives an ok lather, but it's not a rich and creamy lather like other soaps offer and, while I don't think it strips the skin (so that claim is true), it doesn't feel particularly moisturising or luxurious.
It cleans well enough and doesn't irritate or dry out my sensitive skin - a plus because that's a common gripe I have with soaps as opposed to gels - but its cleansing properties don't set it aside for me either.
I did ask my husband what he thought about this, and while he liked the look of it when I gave it to him, he said it was just ok and didn't stand out for him either.
While I've completely loved other Urban Skincare products I've tried, this one didn't quite hit the mark and I don't think it's worth the outlay.
Still, I'm glad I've had the chance to try it and I wouldn't knock it back if one came my way again.
