We're away at the moment (leaving today) and I deliberately brought a bunch of products with me that I knew I could finish while we were here. I often do that when travelling because it means my pack gets a little lighter each day - unless of course I go shopping and fill up the empty space, which sometimes happens ; )
There are some products here that I'm sad to see the back of, including a couple of travel-sized items that I might buy in full size, if I haven't already.
Full review here. This is the first Bioderma product that I've liked, and I liked it a lot. Indeed, it's one of those products that I've liked more and more the longer I've used it. It's a blue coloured gel that cleans well and smells great, and this little 15ml sample size has lasted me for ages so the full sized product would be good value. Few cleansers clean as well as this one does: I really notice how fresh my face feels after using it. Purchase? Yes.
Asap Ultimate Hydration
Full review here. This was a gift with purchase and I'm so glad I received it. It smells divine, feels velvety on the skin and it's super rich so my dry skin loves it. It plumps my skin and all but removes the appearance of my fine lines, plus it leaves my skin so smooth that it's a great base for applying makeup. It's quite a heavy cream so some people mightn't like to apply it every day, but I'm more than happy to - especially in the cooler months when my skin is more dry. Purchase? Yes.
Suki Balancing Day Lotion, Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser and Suki Concentrated Clarifying Toner
I've reviewed the day lotion here, the cleanser here and the toner here. In short, the cleanser became an HG product for me from the first moment I used it; and the toner and lotion aren't designed for my dry skin but I think they're great products and they helped clear up my blemishes in less than two weeks. The only thing I don't like about the lotion and toner is the smell - it's pungent and hurts my nose a bit. The cleanser, however, is to die for and the lemon scent is delicious. Repurchase? Yes to all three (especially the cleanser), but I'd probably buy the dry skin versions of the other two.
Urban Skincare Co Chill Out Bath Bomb and Detoxifying Bath Salts
I've reviewed the bath bomb here and the bath salts here. In sum, I was hoping to love these products because it's been ages since I've been able to have a bath (we don't have one at home) but unfortunately I didn't get much enjoyment from using these. They didn't smell wonderful or add anything different to the experience of having a bath. Foo! I love other Urban Skincare products, but these didn't hit the mark. Purchase? No.
Aveda Dry Remedy Daily Moisturising Oil
I've received so many samples of this product over the years that I was able to write a full review (see here). While I do like it, there's no way I'd pay $40 for the full size - even though it would no doubt last a long time - because I'm not prepared to spend lots of money on haircare and never have been. Plus this has a really strong ginger scent that lingers on my hair and interferes with my perfume, and that to me is a reason not to buy it. Purchase? No.
Nars Makeup Removing Water
I received two samples of this one and they've been handy to travel with, but the product isn't something I would buy because I don't have the dough to spend $38 on makeup remover - especially one that I get through as quickly as I do this one. It's a nice product though and it does the job, so don't discount it if you're happy to fork out the cash. It's free of soap, oil and alcohol, and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. Purchase? No.

Hourglass Femme Rouge Velvet Creme Lipstick in Grace
Full review here. This was a gift with purchase and my husband loved the colour on me so much (he loves nudes and hates brights) that he wanted to buy it for me, but would you believe it, I said no?!?! The reason being that I'm not happy to spend $39 on a lipstick when I can buy ones that perform better from Shanghai Suzy or Sportsgirl for a fraction of the price. While this one feels lovely and looks beautiful on, it doesn't stay put so I don't think it's worth the outlay. Purchase? No.
Urban Skincare Co Daily Hand & Body Cleanser
This was from a subscription box and while I've loved the Urban Skincare body creams I've used, I wasn't a huge fan of this product. Full review here. While it's a lovely, smooth and velvety gel, it doesn't foam well or seem to clean well, and I need to use quite a lot to feel that it has an effect. Plus I like my body products to smell wonderful and this one doesn't. Purchase? No.
LadyKin Aqua Exfoliator for Body
This was a Memebox inclusion and I deliberately took it away so I could use it all up and see the back of it. Full review here. It feels nice and cooling when sprayed on your body in warm weather, but it doesn't add anything to my shower routine and it's annoying to remove because it leaves little rubbery bits on your skin that stick fast. Those bits are meant to be removing dead skin cells as you rub them, but I don't notice any exfoliating action and I don't think this lives up to its claims. Purchase? No.
Sudocrem
I've included this here because while we were away, I used it for the first time as a mask. I'd seen online that it's great for targeting pimples and other skin irritations, and does a lot towards soothing redness. From my brief experience with the product, I think that's true and I can see why many use it as an overnight mask to manage blemishes. I have a big tub of this that we use for my daughter, so I might keep using it and write a full review once I have more idea of how it performs. Purchase (for myself)? Maybe.
Urban Skincare Co Body Bar with Ginger Root
As you may know, I'm not a soap person but my husband is, so I always give him the soaps I receive in subscription boxes: he's more than happy with that arrangement! I also use those soaps so I can say something about them in these posts, since I know that many lasses love a good soap product. Happily this is a nice one and it lathers and cleans well. We've been storing one of these Urban Skincare ones in the bathroom and I'd recommend it if you're a soap person: it does the job well and it's a pleasure to use. Plus I love Urban Skincare's packaging and we're happy to display the products in the bathroom. Purchase? Maybe for my husband.
Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder in 225 Medium Buff
Full review here. This was one of my Project Pan products so I'll have to do an update post on that soon. It's a lovely, fine and velvety powder that my dry skin loves (powders tend to dry out my skin and exacerbate the look of my fine lines, but this one doesn't); however I don't think it's a great powder coverage-wise and that's why I didn't give it a great review and also why I don't think it's a good product. It claims to cover imperfections but it certainly doesn't do that, plus I've seen lasses with oily skin say that it does nothing to manage oil and slips off the skin too easily. Repurchase? No.
Be a Bombshell Eyeshadow Quad in New York City
This was a Violet Box inclusion and I was disappointed in the cold colours in the quad: I'd hoped for one of the warmer quads but we all got this one and few people liked it that much. Full review here. It's only finished because I used the lighter shades to make a shimmer body lotion, and the black as a dry shampoo. Also, while I think this brand makes a good blush, I don't like Be a Bombshell eyeshadows - they're too crumbly and they don't stay put. Purchase? No.
L'Oreal Advanced Revitalift Soothing Post-treatment Protective Moisturiser
This product is part of a micro-dermabrasion set that I love (reviewed here). This moisturiser is so amazingly rich that it hydrates my dry skin wonderfully and plumps up my fine lines. Plus it contains sunscreen so it was a good product to take away with me and apply throughout the day over makeup, taking a few years off my face every time I used it. Repurchase? Yes.
Migabee Verbena Oil Serum
This was a Memebox inclusion and it's one of the few products from Memebox that I've really liked. Full review here. I applied it as the first step in my skincare routine after cleansing and my skin drank it up and looked better after using it. It wasn't hydrating enough to use alone but it definitely added to my skincare routine and I'm sad to see the back of it. Not enough to buy it though, since I've used better serums and oils and this didn't stand out that much. Purchase? No.
I've been through four of these now since I received so many in subscription boxes. Unfortunately I don't think it's a great product and I'm glad to see the back of it. It claims to last up to 16 hours and describes itself as an 'ultra fine long wear makeup setting spray'. I found that it doesn't hydrate well, and it definitely doesn't last as long as claimed. Plus it's not worth the price tag. Purchase? No.
In sum
What a truckload of products I managed to finish off in the space of ten days! Still, as mentioned I did take away products that were either heading towards being finished, or smaller in size so there wasn't a lot of product to get through. The best items in the bunch are the Suki products (mainly the exfoliating cleanser), the Asap cream and the Bioderma cleanser.
I should have a good few more empties by the end of this month since I didn't quite finish a number of products while we were away, but they should be done by the end of June. My beauty stores are looking a lot less overwhelming these days (thanks largely to my spending ban and now the low-buy that I'm on), so that's a plus. I had way too much stuff for a while there!
