The Cosmetic Kitchen Wake Up Body Scrub - review
/
0 Comments
This body scrub was included in a recent box from Lust Have It. I didn't actually receive that box because I wasn't subscribed at the time, but I managed to pick up one of these in the Facebook Lust Have It Swap Group.
I wanted it because I love body scrubs and I don't have a ridiculous amount of them waiting around to be used, so I was happy to swap this for some makeup that I didn't need.
As you can see, it comes in a bag and is a dry product, which seems to be a theme with the skincare products from The Cosmetic Kitchen that we've received from Lust Have It.
Unlike some other items we've received however, this is intended to be a dry body scrub and you don't have to mix it with other products to form a paste. I prefer that because I don't always have the ingredients the product 'recipes' call for on hand, and I don't want to go out and buy things just for the purpose of following the recipe (plus the mixing side of things can be a hassle).
The Cosmetic Kitchen claims/product details:
- Contains natural ingredients including raw sugar, organic coffee, salt, pink Australian organic clay and bergamot
- Gently buffs away dry skin to reveal a refreshed and glowing body
- Not suitable for sensitive skin or as a face scrub
- Do not rub over broken skin or blemishes
- Avoid during pregnancy
- To use: use as a dry body scrub; gently rub a handful in a circular motion before showering; rinse off with warm water
- RRP $29.95 AUD for 60g
Verdict
I've tried this as a dry body scrub and I don't like it because it's too rough for me and it feels a bit weird to use it in that way - maybe because I'm used to cream products.
What I prefer to do is use it when my skin is already wet, and/or add it to my regular shower gel so that it's not as harsh. If I do this, it's not as scratchy on the skin but still exfoliates well and leaves your body feeling fresh and smooth.
It's finely ground and smells strongly of coffee, and it is quite messy so expect to be cleaning little grains off the shower after use.
Having said this, it's not as messy or hard to remove from the shower as other coffee scrubs I've used, so my husband is very pleased about this hehe.
Just looking at the list of things you can't use this for (eg over blemishes etc), I can imagine that a lot of people would put this product in the too hard basket, and I don't blame them.
I do however think it lives up to its claim of leaving your body feeling refreshed, and it is a good scrub so I like it for that reason. I also like the coffee smell, since that does help wake me up in the morning when I've had a bad night with our baby girl.
In sum, I'm liking this but I wouldn't buy it, and I don't think it's worth the price tag.
