Andalou Naturals Luminous Eye Serum - review
/
2 Comments
As you may know, I've been slowly testing various Andalou products over the past year after trying a couple of items and falling in love with them.
Next up is this eye serum, which I'm sad to say doesn't work for me at all - so after this review, I may well end my suffering and instead use it as a face serum, just to get through it. We'll see.
Andalou claims/product details:
- Uses Fruit Stem Cell Science® to help reduce hyperpigmentation and brighten the eye area
- Formulated with vitamin c, known to help reduce pigmentation and boost collagen
- Contains green coffee extract to stimulate blood circulation and brighten dark circles, while cucumber hydrates and soothes
- Made in the USA with a minimum of 70% certified organic ingredients
- Certified GMO free, vegan, certified cruelty free, certified gluten free
- FSC certified and recyclable packing used
- RRP $25.99 AUD for 18ml, but do shop around
Verdict
This product isn't awful but it hasn't done anything for me and it's nowhere near hydrating enough for my dry skin, so I can't wait to get through it and move on to something else.
It's a thin product that feels like a gel in texture, and it spreads and applies well. Note that I need to use more of this than I do regular eye creams because it's not very concentrated, so I need to use enough to ensure that my whole eye area is covered. This means it's not good value on a price-per-use basis.
To start with I was using this twice-daily by itself as my only eye product, but I found that within three days, my eye area had dried out and become more wrinkly. My skin also felt more uncomfortable and I looked older (especially when I tried applying eyeshadow), so I had to introduce an eye cream over the top to manage that issue.
I also found that it wasn't meeting its claims - so it didn't brighten my eye area, help reduce dark circles or soothe my skin - and over time I haven't noticed any difference to my pigmentation or skin texture. Indeed, it's done nothing for me at all.
After testing it for six weeks, I sent it to the overnight spot and I'm now using it as a 'booster' to lay down a few hours after my normal eye cream before I go to bed. It's not really performing any function here, although I suppose I can say that it does leave a slight coating on the skin so perhaps it's helping to seal in my other products.
Overall I don't like this eye serum and I can't recommend it. It hasn't done anything for me and it's not hydrating enough to use on its own, and it's also worth noting that plenty of other reviewers have said the same thing (that is, it meets none of its claims), so it's not just me and I personally would avoid this product.
Does nothing for me.
