Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Glow Body Lotion - review

I've been ignoring the review posts lately but it's time to sneak at least a few in so I'm starting with this one because I've been using this product for ages.

What I also need to do today is wind up proceedings for at least one of the Project Dent items I'm using, and I need to photograph a bundle of things too - including, hopefully, my Project Pan items for 2018 because I'm just about ready to kick off that post.

So much to do!

This was one of those body creams that I bought from the supermarket because I was running low and it happened to be on special at the time.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a tanning cream (I've since seen that I'm not the only one!), but it's not. It's a stock-standard body cream, and it happens to be a good one. More on that below.

Vaseline claims/product details:
  • Contains rich cocoa butter to help even skintone, while smoothing away roughness and penetrating deep into the skin where dryness starts
  • The specially formulated lotion is enriched with vitamin e and conditioning moisturisers to leave skin soft and supple, while igniting the skin's natural glow at the source
  • With pure cocoa butter, it moisturises and restores the appearance of dry, dull skin to reveal its natural glow
  • Absorbs quickly for a non-greasy feel
  • RRP $8.49 AUD for 400ml, but do shop around

Verdict

This is a good, basic, everyday body lotion and I recommend it.

It's a cream-coloured product with a light, fresh and creamy scent that I enjoy. It's reasonably thin in texture but there's also something rich about it, so it's perfect for those who struggle with dry, dehydrated skin.

I've been using mine for months now and I'm only halfway through it so a little goes a long way and I'm not burning through it like I do most body creams. This is reason enough for me to repurchase it: body cream is something I speed through too quickly so I'm pleased that this one isn't vanishing before my eyes.

It spreads and absorbs well, and although it does leave a slight residue, it's not super tacky and I agree that it doesn't have a greasy after-feel. Another plus. Indeed, I just applied some to my hands and I've been able to keep typing without wiping the gunk from my fingers, which is unusual for a cream so I'm pleased about that.

The main thing I like about this is that it hydrates and nourishes my skin beautifully so I never have dry, uncomfortable skin when I'm using it. So if you have dry skin like I do, this is definitely one to try - although I still think you would like this if your skin is normal because it's not a heavy product and it doesn't feel as though it clogs pores.

On the claims: yes it's rich and it also helps manage dryness because it absorbs well; yes it leaves skin feeling soft and supple; yes it helps restore the appearance of dry skin; and yes I agree that it absorbs quickly and beautifully, moisturising the skin without leaving a greasy after-feel.

Overall this is an excellent body cream and I recommend it. It works, it's reasonably priced (even better if you can buy it on special), and it does exactly what it says it will do. Plus it lasts well because you don't need much per application.

Love.
