Maybelline Expert Eyes 100% Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover - review

I don't think I've ever found a makeup remover that I really like - this one included.

In my experience you're much better off using a cleansing oil to dissolve makeup, and I'm yet to find a dedicated remover that successfully removes mascara.

This one removes most eye makeup, but it doesn't make a dent in my mascara and it struggles with some eyeliners too. Not what you want from a remover that's apparently designed to take off eye makeup!

Maybelline claims/product details:

Verdict

As mentioned above, I've struggled to find a makeup remover I really like and this isn't it. Whether my mascara is waterproof or not, this doesn't remove it and I find it's good for removing powder eyeshadows but that's about it.

I've seen other reviewers say that this stings their eyes, and while I haven't had this issue, enough people have commented on this that I would be careful with it if you have sensitive eyes.

It's meant to be fragrance free but it does have a light scent, so do be aware of this if you don't like scented products.

Most people who've reviewed this product online say that it isn't great for mascara and eyeliner, and I agree with that. Indeed, I've been using it to remove makeup from my whole face, since I want to get through the bottle quickly so I can return to using a cleansing oil as the first step in my evening cleansing routine.

I'm sure that better removers exist at this price point, I just haven't found one yet. If you need to remove mascara and eyeliner (and you don't have a shower in the evenings), I personally think you're better off finding a cheap face oil and putting some of that on a makeup pad to use as a remover - you'll have more success than you will with this product.

Ok.
