Lux Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash - review

This is the third body wash I'll be reviewing for the year and it still feels a bit odd to be posting on body washes since I went so long without using them: the reason being, I wound up with so many facial cleansers I didn't like from Memebox that I had a bundle to get through as body washes, and it's only this year that I've been able to go out and buy them again.

Anyhoo. This is a good one and I do like it. It's been something of a teaser in that sense because there's something luxurious about it and it's made me want to spend a bit more on a fancy one. Body washes aren't normally what I spend my money on, but you do use them every day and it makes a difference when you have one that you really love.

Verdict

I won't bang on too much about this product because there's not a hell of a lot to say about a body wash: it either cleans or it doesn't.

This one does. It lathers beautifully and there's something rich and creamy about the lather itself that I'm really enjoying. Indeed, I reckon it foams up a lot more than most body washes I've used in the past, and a little goes a long way with this so I don't feel like I need to use much each time and the bottle should last a good while.

The scent is interesting but there's something I don't love about it that's hard to pin down. It smells quite luxe and creamy and I like the first smell that hits my nose, but there's an almost metallic after-scent to the product (it's a bit tinny or something) that doesn't thrill me. I can live with it but I'm more likely to try this in another scent if I do buy it again, which I suspect I will.

Now it does contain exfoliating beads but I didn't realise this until I used it for the first time without my shower puff: I guess the puff feels exfoliating itself and the beads get lost in the process because there aren't heaps of them and they're not super scrubby.

So I wouldn't rely on this as a dedicated exfoliant, but the good news is that I can happily use this every day without over-scrubbing my skin. The beads are definitely there and I'm more aware of them if I use my hands to apply this, it's just that I don't think they do a hell of a lot so don't go out and buy this if you need a body scrub because it mightn't hit the mark.

Otherwise I do think this is a decent product and there's something luxe about using it that I'm really enjoying. I do plan to buy this in another fragrance when I've finished the bottle, so I'll let you know if I find a scent I prefer.

Lovely. Plus you can often find it on special somewhere as I did, so it's a good budget buy.
