Antipodes Joyful Hand & Body Cream - review

I bought this a while ago when Antipodes was 40 per cent off at Priceline, because I was low on hand cream and I'd always wanted to try this one - it's just that it's more expensive than what I would typically pay for a hand cream, although it's well-priced at that discount.

I tried the tester in-store and immediately fell in love with it, so I went ahead and bought it. I'm so glad I did: it's become my bedside-table hand cream and I look forward to using it every night. I've even given it an HG tag. More on that below.

Antipodes claims/product details:

  • Glorious summer berry flirts with South Pacific hibiscus flower to enchant the trials of everyday life with moments of fragrant joy
  • Nutrient-rich avocado oil delivers an immediate boost of abundant skin nutrients to dry, tired and stressed skin
  • This captivating and velvety cream will leave your skin dewy and fragrant, and free from oily residue
  • Certified vegan by the UK Vegetarian Society, a globally respected organisation for the assessment of vegetarian and vegan status
  • Recyclable aluminium tube
  • 100% biodegradable cardboard from sustainable forests
  • RRP $33.99 AUD for 120ml, but do wait for specials

Verdict

This is one of the nicest hand creams I've used, and I can see myself buying it again and again. I love the scent and also how it feels on my skin, plus I'm a huge fan of Antipodes as a brand so I have no reason not to buy it!

The product comes in a standard hand-cream tube that's a pretty purple colour (the box it comes in is pretty too). The cream has a gorgeous blackcurrant scent that's sweet without being too sweet, and the fragrance is there without being overpowering - although it lingers nicely on the skin, and I like sniffing my hands after use.

As for the product itself, it's a lightweight cream that absorbs and spreads well, and a little goes a long way so this tube will last me ages. Granted, I only use it overnight - but I still think it would last a good while if you wanted to use it more often than that.

What I love about this hand cream is that it's hydrating enough for the overnight spot and I can't say that of many hand creams because my skin is so dry (especially now that it's getting colder). But this cream suits me beautifully and I'm waking up with hands that feel nourished and comfortable, rather than dry and tight. Tick.

I also like that the cream doesn't have a greasy after-feel so you could certainly use it during the day if you wanted to. I've only kept it on the bedside table because it's more hydrating than the other hand creams I'm using at the moment, but it's honestly one of those products that I can use whenever I want to.

On the claims: yes it smells amazing; yes it's great for dry, tired and stressed skin; yes it's free from oily residue; and yes it has a velvety texture.

Overall I love this hand cream and I've given it an HG tag. I can't get enough of it and I can't see that changing anytime soon. It hydrates beautifully without weighing my skin down, it's not too expensive if you can find it on special (and you do get a lot of product in the tube), plus it smells nice and it's from a brand I trust.

Gorgeous.
