Vivito Dessin Solution Lip & Eye Makeup Remover - review

I received this product in a Memebox kit that I managed to pick up for $3USD by using points - plus I didn't pay shipping (huzzah!).
I bought the kit because I'd run out of makeup remover and needed some more, so I looked on the other three products I received as 'bonus' items, meaning it wouldn't matter so much if I didn't like them.
While I did quite like the other three items, none of them either suit me or are ones I'll use, so I'm glad this one ended up being a decent product because it meant the points-spend wasn't entirely useless. Having said that, I've recently decided that makeup remover isn't an essential for me because I'd much rather use face wipes as the first step in my cleansing routine: the Fuss Free Naturals wipes I use have some exfoliating action as well and my skin loves them.
But enough rambling! Let's check out the product.
Vivito claims/product details:
- A double-layered remover that effectively melts away stubborn makeup
- Contains a soothing and hydrating blend of lemongrass and rose hip oils
- Also contains diamond powder and sapphire powder
- Gentle enough to use around eye contours and lips
- To use: shake the bottle prior to each use and apply with a makeup pad; gently wipe away eye and lip makeup
- RRP $32USD for 100ml
Ingredients:
Water, cyclopentasiloxane, dipropylene glycol, isohexadecane, portulaca oleracea extract, rosa canina (dog rose) fruit oil, betula alba juice, citrus aurantium bergamia fruit oil (bergamot), pelargonium graveolens flower oil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) oil, salvia officinalis (sage) oil, cymbopogon schoenanthus (lemongrass) oil, citrus limon (lemon) fruit oil, geranium maculatum oil, pogostemon cablin oil, cymbopogon nardus oil(citronella), sodium chloride, alcohol, glycerin, benzophenone-4, sodium citrate, caprylyl/capryl glucoside, disodium EDTA, citric acid, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, allantoin, phenoxyethanol, blue 1
Verdict
This is a good makeup remover that does remove eye and lip makeup - as well as foundation and blush etc - it just doesn't remove mascara.
Having said that, I'm yet to find a makeup remover that does remove mascara. So far the only way I can get rid of that is with cleanser and warm water. I guess that's because I choose waterproof mascaras that don't shift throughout the day.
This remover is quite an oily product but for that reason it's pretty effective, dissolving most makeup well enough. I do need to use two makeup pads to give my face a proper clean, but that's probably because I use it on my whole face and not just my eyes and lips.
On the oil factor, it's quite greasy and some people mightn't like that, so do be aware of it. The greasiness is something that hangs around and needs to be washed off, but I always cleanse after removing makeup so that doesn't bother me.
It has quite a strong smell - I'm sniffing the lemongrass and rose hip oils - so be aware of that too if you prefer fragrance-free products.
You also have to give it a good shake before each use, which might annoy you if you're time-poor and always rushing through your skincare routine.
Finally, I think it's far too expensive for a makeup remover and for that reason I wouldn't buy it, but it's a product I'm getting some good use from and I'd recommend it if you can find it on special (which you usually can).
It is better than many removers I've used so if you can find it cheaply, I reckon it's worth giving a crack.
