The beauty blogger tag

We've slowly been getting over colds in our house, and you may have noticed that I've done a few blogger tags during that time because I've been meaning to do some for ages and I've found them easier to do than normal review posts while I've been sick.

Happily it looks like we're all on the mend now (touch wood), but I still have a couple of tags I'd like to finish off so I thought I may as well do them before returning to normal proceedings.

This is another little one I found and I quite like the questions so I thought I may as well answer them. Tags like this can also be useful if you want to get to know more about a person, so hopefully you find something interesting in here too : )

1. Use three words to describe your blogging style

Direct, personal and conversational.

2. If you could meet any person in the fashion/makeup industry (dead or alive), who would it be and why?

Kevyn Aucoin. I've heard so much about him and I wish I'd met him. He's one of the few people who really stands out in the makeup industry and even now he gets quoted and referenced all the time. On top of that, I love his makeup line too : )

3. How has your blogging changed compared to when you first started?

I take more time over my posts than I used to. When I first started, for some reason I thought quantity was more important than quality so I was spitting out posts with dodgy photos just to keep things moving. Now, if I'm unhappy with the photos, I take them again. Posts don't have to be perfect but they should at least be useful and good enough.

4. What 1 tip would you give to a new blogger?

Aim to enjoy what you do. Blogging isn't something that most of us make a good living from, so I wouldn't go out with the aim of making millions. Instead, just aim to have fun. This will make your blog a happy place both for you and your readers - and I reckon that's the whole point!

As part of this, learn to love the things you're not as good at: for me, this has meant finding more enjoyment in taking photos, which has never been my forte (I'm more about words). There will always be things you don't like about something, but if you can learn to enjoy as much of the process as you can, that's a great start.

5. As far as my blogging is concerned, I want to become better at…(fill in the sentence).

Can I talk about photos again? Ha. Although my photos have certainly improved, so perhaps I should now be focusing more on other things - like joining more social media platforms and learning how to negotiate those. I'm still not on Pinterest or Snapshat, and I need to remedy this!

6. Where do you get ideas/inspiration from regarding your blog posts?

Most of my posts are product reviews, so the inspiration for those is of course the products themselves - and I really enjoy sharing my thoughts on new and exciting things.

Otherwise I do read a lot of blogs and I find others' posts inspiring, so if I'm strapped for ideas, I can always see what others have been posting on recently.

7. Name one makeup/beauty product you have been eyeing, but have not bought yet.

Only one?! I've got my eye on the new Hourglass Surreal Glow palette, but since that hasn't been released yet, I'm guessing that doesn't count.

I've had my eye on the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette for ages but haven't bought it yet because I have more eyeshadows than I need as it is. But once I've gotten through a few shadows via Project Pan and Pan that Palette, I'll let myself buy it : )

8. Do you have a holy grail product? What is it?

Yes, I have several! If I had to pick just one skincare item and one makeup one, I'd say my Alpha-H Liquid Gold because that takes five years off my face, and my Hourglass Dim Light because that does the same. Two gorgeous products that make me look better with very little effort - you can't beat that!

9. London, Paris or New York fashion week? Why?

Paris, but only because I'd then be a stone's throw from Italy if I wanted to keep travelling after the event, which I would. That's probably not what the question is asking, but that's my answer!

In sum

Another tag down! I may do a couple more of these throughout August while they're front of mind, and after that I'll just keep an eye out for any good ones - rather than seeking them out, as I've done over the past week.

Do let me know if you've stumbled across any tags that you'd like me to do.

As for tagging others, I tag anyone and everyone who wants to do this tag!
