Dermaveen Hydrating Facial Moisturiser - review

Over a month ago now I received three Dermaveen products to review: this moisturiser, a serum (reviewed here) and a cleanser (reviewed here).
Of the three, the cleanser is the best and the serum is the worst - or at least that's my opinion. This moisturiser is somewhere in the middle, and while I'm happy enough to use it, it's not one I would buy because it's not quite hydrating enough for my dry skin. More on that below.
Dermaveen claims/product details:
- Specially formulated for dry, sensitive skin
- Colloidal oatmeal replenishes lost moisture and helps visibly improve the skin’s elasticity, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for smooth, radiant skin
- The pH-balanced formula encourages optimal skin function
- Features a rich texture and does not leave a sticky or greasy residue
- Hypoallergenic and free of lanolin, parabens, artificial dyes, fragrances and alcohol
- RRP $14.99 AUD for 75ml, but do shop around
Verdict
This is a decent moisturiser for the price, and I recommend it if you're after something simple for everyday use. Nevertheless, it's not enough for my dry skin and it's not one I would be able to use in winter when my skin's at its driest. For now it's ok, but it's borderline and my skin hasn't felt as nourished as I would like while I've been using it.
I like that it's fragrance free and it's also reasonably hydrating, and I think it would suit normal to oily skin because it's lightweight and doesn't feel too rich.
Plus I like that it spreads and absorbs well, and it has kept my dry skin feeling soft and lightly moisturised throughout the testing period - without feeling weighed down. This is especially important for me at the moment (it's currently summer), because anything that's too heavy during the warmer months has a tendency to clog my pores and cause breakouts. This doesn't.
The other good thing about this product is that it doesn't leave a greasy residue or tacky film on the skin, which confirms to me that it's sinking in and delivering moisture where I need it most.
Overall I think this is a good product for the price and it's worth trying if your skin isn't as dry as mine is - especially if you can find it on sale at one of the big chemists. While it's not enough for me personally, I reckon it would suit most people and I do recommend it, despite the fact that it's not one I would buy.
A nice product but not quite hydrating enough for me.
