Goldfaden MD Wake Up Call - review

I remember trying a sample of this product a couple of years ago, and I absolutely loved it so it was on my wishlist for ages before I was able to buy it.

Problem is, it costs $124 AUD - more money than I would typically spend on a single skincare item - so I didn't buy it until I had $100 worth of gift cards to cover most of it, and it's not a product I would buy often for the cost alone.

Gosh I love it though. I wish I could always have it in my collection. It works and my skin responds to it beautifully. More on that below.

Goldfaden MD claims/product details:

  • An overnight regenerative treatment for dry, ageing skin
  • This silky, creamy moisturiser helps refine the skin's texture overnight
  • Infused with vitamin e to hydrate and impart antioxidant protection; grape-seed oils to encourage supple, more even-toned skin; avocado oil to nourish and supply anti-inflammatory benefits; and retinol to improve skin texture and reduce the look of fine lines
  • With regular use, the complexion is left looking luminous, plump and youthful
  • RRP $124 AUD for 50ml

Verdict

I absolutely love this product and I recommend it. Yes it's expensive, but gosh it works well and I'm almost prepared to forgive the massive price-tag because it does such good things for my skin. I said almost.

It's a white cream that's rich while still being lightweight, and it spreads and absorbs well. It's a little hydrating although I personally wouldn't rely on it for hydration alone, and with my dry skin, I need to put a good serum down first to help keep my skin feeling comfortable.

I've been using mine for the last three months, and my skin hasn't been in this good condition for a while. It's not just that it looks brighter and fresher these days, it's also a lot clearer and I don't have those break-outs along my chin anymore - which I've been getting for as long as I can remember - so it's a huge deal for me that something has finally targeted them.

And given that I haven't changed much in my skincare routine lately, I really think this product is responsible for clearing out my pores and giving me smoother skin. My face looks healthier too, and while I haven't noticed any huge changes in terms of fine lines etc, the fact that my skin looks brighter and fresher does help make my complexion look more youthful.

One thing to note is that this cream can be a little irritating - not on my face, but on my neck. When I apply it, I include my face, neck and dec in the process, and I find that my neck is rather red and sensitised for a while after use so I often whack an oil over the top to help with the issue. This isn't a big problem for me, but I do suggest testing this first because it may be too irritating for some.

On the claims: yes it's regenerative and good for ageing skin; yes it helps refine the skin overnight; yes it encourages more supple, even-toned skin; yes it improves skin texture; and yes it leaves me with a more luminous and youthful-looking complexion.

Overall I reckon this is an excellent product and I recommend it. I mightn't like the huge price-tag, but at least it works and generally meets its claims - and for those reasons I'm almost prepared to forget how much it costs. Definitely worth grabbing a sample to see if it works for you too.

Love.
