Can a beauty junkie go for a year without buying beauty products? Six months down!

It's been a good month in terms of beauty spending - as in, there hasn't been any.
Which is of course the whole point of the spending ban ; )
I'd wondered whether I might find it too hard not to buy anything after Mex bought me a couple of products last month - you know, the whole flood gates opening thing - but happily I've been able to stay on the wagon.
Despite this, I'm really starting to get over the no-buy now and am asking myself whether it's time to loosen the rules. For example, if I finish off two lip products, maybe I could allow myself to buy one?
It wouldn't exactly be a no buy of course, but if I follow eg a 'two-out, one-in' kind of system, that will still help in terms of streamlining my collection, but will also mean I'll occasionally be able to buy something new. Except for blushes and eyeshadows, which are SO hard to finish, so I can't really justify buying another one of those any time this century - although of course I'll manage to do so soon enough.
I've also realised recently that, while I feel like I have a ridiculous amount of stuff (and I certainly do have more than enough), I don't have nearly as much as many others. That's the problem with reading beauty blogs and being part of Facebook beauty groups: you can quite easily tell yourself that you have much less than most people and so it's totally ok for you to buy more! I'll have to try hard not to fall into that trap ; )
Plus Urban Decay has finally arrived in Australia...
Anyway, I'll think about it. The spending ban stands for now and it has indeed been a good month because I haven't bought anything. But I do get a lot of joy out of new products, and now that the dreary weather is setting in and I have a newborn to boot, if a new lipstick now and then is going to help keep me sane in all the madness, I don't think that's such a bad thing.
We'll see. I'll check back in next month and let you know what I've decided.
