Batiste Dry Shampoo, Original - review

As you may know, these are my HG dry shampoos and I've been running through them in turn so I can find my favourite one of the lot.

Unsurprisingly this is my favourite because it has no scent and I mostly don't like the scented ones (they generally remind me of the cheap deodorants I used to buy in high school), so I'll be buying this from now on and skipping the scented ones that I've already tried.

Batiste claims/product details:

  • When sprayed directly onto hair, the formulation penetrates hair shafts and absorbs dirt, grease and product build-up
  • A multi award-winning product and Australia's #1 dry shampoo brand
  • The perfect fix for great-looking hair, even between washes
  • Your hair will look clean and fresh, with added body and texture, no water required
  • The perfect way to extend your blow dry, free up time in the morning or give your hair a new lease on life
  • For all hair types
  • To use: for best results shake before use, spray into the roots with the nozzle 30cm from your hair and massage through with your fingertips; then brush and style
  • RRP $9.95 AUD for 200ml, but do shop around

    Verdict

This is an excellent dry shampoo and so I'm glad I've found the range. I've also been enjoying trying the different fragrances so I can find my favourite, and I'm glad I've found it now so I can just keep using this while I occasionally explore other brands down the track.

The fragrance of this one is a mild, sweet powdery scent that I quite like. So while it's not fragrance free completely, it's the kind of scent that shouldn't bother most people and it lingers for a while after use, and it does die down so I'm only aware of it if I sniff my hair after use.

What's great about this product is that it does exactly what it says it will do: it makes my hair look and feel cleaner and fresher, plus it adds body and texture to boot.

The other good news is that this product doesn't only work on hair that needs a wash: it also works if eg you've used a product that's left your hair feeling heavy and coated, so if I've used a shampoo/conditioner combo that's left a film, a few sprays of this will manage the issue well. While most dry shampoos can handle normal 'human' grease (sorry gross ; )), not all of them can handle product overload - so it's a huge plus in my books that this one can.

I've also discovered that it makes my hair easier to brush so I think it has a detangling effect too, plus it adds some shine and makes my hair feel softer. So basically it does everything that I want and need a dry shampoo to do. Hip hip hooray.

One thing to note is that, if you touch your hair after using this, your hands will feel a bit powdered - but that doesn't bother me because you can't see the stuff on your hair and it doesn't leave a white cast (provided you brush it through).

Overall this is great product and one I recommend. I'm looking forward to trying more scents from the range so I can find my favourite, but so far I prefer this one over Wild (reviewed here).

    Love.
