LadyKin Broccoli Super Brightening Cream - review

I received this cream in Memebox Special #73 Brighten & Correct.

My husband has been laughing over the various Memebox odds and ends that have been appearing in the bathroom of late - he's right that some of the products look pretty weird and random. Plus there's a lot of Barbie-pink packaging, which neither of us is thrilled about. Of this particular cream he said, 'So I guess it's got broccoli in it?! What next?'

Well yes, apparently it does. And I'm not entirely sure, but I mentioned bee venom, snail mucus and fabricated snake venom (yes, WTF).

Anyhoo.

Ladykin claims/product details:
  • A brightening cream that contains 75% broccoli extract, which has an antioxidant effect
  • Also contains vitamin C
  • Works to calm, heal and brighten the skin
  • Also aims to diminish the appearance of uneven skintone, dark spots, age spots and fine lines
  • Can be used for both face and body
  • RRP $14 for 60ml

Verdict

This is an odd one and it's been banished to the body cream section already: I have much better face products and I'd rather use those.

It's a strange cream. When you squeeze some out, it seems to 'melt' on your fingers (leaving a watery trail behind), but then when you apply it to your face, it takes a while to absorb and you really need to rub it in. If you don't rub it in, you're left with a white face - and I wonder whether it's been designed that way deliberately (ie, so you feel like it has a 'whitening' effect because they've coloured it to make you believe that).

I don't think this would have any great impact on age spots over time, but I can't really comment on that because I only used it on my face for a couple of weeks before deciding it wasn't for me.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else who's used it for a while and has something to say about its effects over time - I'd be really surprised if there were any.

Essentially it's an ok cream that's not particularly hydrating, smells a bit weird (too sweet for me) and has no particular impact to commend it - but it's fine for use on the body. My face needs a little more TLC.
