QV Intensive Cream - review

I bought this cream ages ago because my dermatologist recommended it as something that might treat the dry patches on my skin that looked like contact dermatitis.
While I managed to work out what had caused those dry patches (it wasn't contact dermatitis) and targeted those by removing the product that had caused them, I did hang on to this cream and in the end used it on the body because I have enough face cream - so no point putting it at the back of a long queue.
I like it, and I do think it works for dry skin. More on that below.
QV claims/product details:
- A rich, fast-absorbing and highly concentrated triple moisturising cream that's designed to provide 24 hour hydration to the skin's driest areas without the greasy residue
- A preservative-free everyday moisturiser to help with the maintenance of extremely dry skin
- Clinically proven 24-hour moisturisation
- Easily applied and readily absorbed into the skin without excessive rubbing
- Helps maintain the skin’s natural protective barrier and lock in moisture
- Preservative free, further reducing the chance of irritancy
- Low-irritant formulation, fragrance, lanolin, propylene glycol and colour free
- Non-comedogenic, so it won’t block pores
- Hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested
- RRP $8.50 AUD for 100g or $23.50 AUD for 500g
Verdict
This is a great cream and I do recommend it for dry skin, especially because it's not expensive so it's a good one to consider if you're on a budget.
It's a rich, white cream with no fragrance, so that claim is true. Do note that it's more of a heavy cream in texture, so if you're expecting something lightweight, this isn't it. There's definitely some oil in there, and I wouldn't recommend this product for those who prefer lighter creams.
I've been applying this to my body for the last month now and my skin's thanking me for it. As you may know, I have dry skin everywhere (always have) so something like this is right up my alley. It nourishes my body, hands and feet, and although it does leave a slight greasy residue behind, it's not so bad that it's distracting.
It applies, spreads and absorbs beautifully, and a little goes a long way because it melts and thins as you apply it, so I haven't burned through this like I have many other body creams. This makes it even better value on a price-per-use basis, and I absolutely recommend it if you're after something cheap that works.
Overall I enjoy this product and reckon it meets its claims. It's cheap, it works, it smells nice and it's perfect for dry skin. Definitely one to keep in mind if you have dry skin and need something inexpensive to target it.
Love.
