Becca Sheer Tint Lip Colour in Laelia - review and swatches
/
0 Comments
It's the second strawberrynet order I've ever made and I reckon it will be my last one: it's obvious that they stock some really old products (that's why they're so cheap) and I would rather pay a little more and know I'm getting something that hasn't been sitting around for years gathering dust.
Anyhoo. Happily this lip tint in Laelia has a fresher smell than the last one I looked at (Olesya, reviewed here) so it's still ok to use. I also ordered Milla, which smells the freshest and newest of the three, so one bung product for $6 ain't bad ; ).
I can already tell that Laelia will be a colour I reach for often. It's a soft peachy nude that would suit pretty much everyone, and I loved it from the first use.
When I received these products, I was immediately struck by their packaging - it's gorgeous, practical and classy.
It's a sturdy silver bullet that twists to close, so there's no chance of the lid coming loose and falling off in your handbag. I love it and I'll happily keep the empty tubes to display on my lipstick stand once I've finished the products. It's almost worth spending $6 for the packaging alone!
The Becca lettering printed on the lid is a nice touch, and these just feel like quality products because the packaging is so nice and has a nice weight to it. You wouldn't mind pulling one of these out in public for touch ups, that's for sure!
Becca claims/product details:
- A collection of sheer, hydrating lipsticks with subtle shine
- Each contains a cocktail of emollients and antioxidants such as shea butter, cocoa butter, honey and vitamin E
- Moisturises and protects the lips while providing a smooth, even application of creamy colour
- Comes in a sleek metal case with a lid that twists and locks to the base for no-fuss travel and toting in your purse
- Deliciously scented with a natural light vanilla/caramel scent
- Delivers a sheer wash of colour with a soft, creamy shine
- Nourishing and non-drying
- Paraben free
- Sheer colours enhance the lip's natural tones
- Makes lips look healthy, moist and full
- Anti-feathering and anti-bleeding
- Shelf-life after opening: 6 months
- RRP $48 AUD for 3g, but do shop around (I got mine for $6!)
There's the colour above, and I've swatched it in direct sunlight below:
There it is again, swatched in the shade:
My bare lips for reference:

And in the shade:
Unlike Olesya, this one smells like it's meant to: it has the caramel vanilla scent that Becca mentions and other reviewers have commented on, and it's a scent I quite like.
As to the product itself, this has to be one of the best lip formulas I've tried. It's so rich and creamy, and even though the products are called 'sheer', they're definitely not that and they offer a punch of colour - but somehow your natural lip colour does shine through and alter the shade, meaning it's more likely to suit you and not look too in-your-face.
Laelia is a beautiful peachy nude, the kind of colour I wear all the time. As soon as I used it, it became my favourite lip product and I'll have to be careful not to get through it too quickly because I won't be able to buy it again. Foo!
The formula is super moisturising and a dream to wear. There's something luxurious about it and I love how it feels on the lips.
It also stays put much longer than you might expect, given how creamy it is. I can see myself getting a lot of use from this, so it's $6 well-spent.
I love the packaging too, and I do think these live up to their claims. If they hadn't been discontinued, I would certainly be buying more.
One bad thing is that these products have a short, six-month shelf-life, and I've seen other reviewers say that these do tend to go off faster than other lipsticks, so do be aware of that.
I won't give it an HG tag - only because it's been discontinued - but otherwise I would.
Love. Huge ticks from me.
