Clarins Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Lotion - review
/
0 Comments
If you read this blog, you may have noticed that I've been reviewing a lot of makeup removers lately. This is because my sister had a bunch of half-finished bottles lying around at my parents' place, and since she didn't need them, she gave me the green light to review them before sending them back to her.
This is one of those products. I suspect she got it as a GWP and then decided she didn't like it: it's quite bad and I think we'd both be happy if I just threw the remainder in the bin!
Clarins claims/product details:
- A fresh, soothing lotion that gently and thoroughly removes all regular eye makeup
- Formulated for sensitive eyes
- For all skin types
- To use: place a cotton pad soaked in lotion on each closed eye; gently hold the pad against the eyelid for ten seconds to dissolve makeup, then wipe over the eyebrows without rubbing
- RRP $38 AUD for 125ml, but do shop around
Verdict
This is crap and there isn't a lot to say about it.
First, it doesn't remove eye makeup. It removes a little of the 'easier' products like powders, but forget cream eyeshadows, eyeliner and mascara. Ridiculous, particularly considering that it's apparently designed for eye makeup!
Second, the usage instructions. Ten seconds seems like a long time to be holding this over the eye, and even then there's no benefit to doing this because the product still doesn't work. Waste of time.
Third, it's irritating. My eyes are a little sensitive - not too bad - and from memory this is the first eye makeup remover I've used that's stung them, so be careful about getting any in your eyes! I also find that it's quite drying, and I definitely don't need that on my already-dry eyes.
And then there's the price...
I've had a look online and seen that other reviewers have commented on the drying/stinging factor when it comes to this product, and many have also pointed out that it doesn't work. So I'm not the only one who thinks it's rubbish.
An eye makeup remover that doesn't work and irritates the eyes?!
No thanks.
