Inika Certified Organic Pure Primer - review
/
0 Comments
We received this product AGES ago from Lust Have It, and I've had so many other primers to get through first that it's taken me almost a year to open and use it.
I'm so glad I've finally done so, because I'm loving it. Plus it makes a nice change from all those silicone based, pore-plugging primers that I can't seem to escape from.
Indeed, I like it so much that I've given it an HG tag. Finally I've found a primer that I can rave about - I never thought that would happen!
Inika claims/product details:
- A certified organic blend that offers supreme hydration for skin prior to makeup application
- Creates an even canvas
- Helps with long-lasting foundation coverage
- With nourishing ingredients such as macadamia oil, shea butter, avocado and apricot, Inika's primer calms and soothes the skin
- Contains certified organic essential oils – lavender, lemon myrtle and jojoba for nourished and hydrated skin
- Offers a barrier from the elements
- Certified organic, certified vegan, certified cruelty-free, certified halal
- Perfect for dry/normal skins
- To use: apply one gentle pump and massage into your face and neck; use before makeup application or alone
- RRP $60 AUD for 50ml
This is the first primer I've ever used that I can see myself buying again and again. Plus I've just seen that it now comes with hyaluronic acid, so I'm willing to bet that the updated version is even better than this one.
It's a reasonably thick, white cream that feels super hydrating without being greasy, and there's something a little sticky about it (in a good way) so I do think it provides a good base for makeup because it seems to help things adhere.
It has a faint scent - I'm smelling the lemon myrtle and something else I can't place. I don't love the scent (there's something odd about it) but it's one I don't mind and can happily live with, given how good the product is.
From the first time I used this, I knew I'd struck gold. I have dry skin and I don't love all those mattifying primers floating around, and this one provides a nice change from anything silicone-based that doesn't agree with my dry skin.
It's beautifully hydrating and applies like a dream. The instructions say that you only need one pump for your whole face, and Inika wasn't kidding - a little goes a long way so this 30ml bottle should last for ages (I'm guessing around six months of daily use, maybe more).

So while this product is a little pricey, considering how little you need to use each time, it makes up its value in the number of uses you're going to get from a bottle - and do note the full size is 50ml, meaning you get more bang for your buck because most primers contain 30ml.
My skin feels so soft and smooth after applying this primer that I could probably forgo my moisturiser and just use this, since it feels so nourishing on the skin. I do still use a moisturiser since I need all the hydration I can get and can't imagine going without one, but if you have oily or normal skin, you might choose to skip the moisturiser and just apply this over your serum or even alone.
I also love the packaging and the pump: in my experience, it's rare that a pump will deliver the exact amount of product you want to use, but this one does. Great for those of us who can be a bit unco and can never seem to squeeze out the right amount from tubes!
On the claims: yes this offers great hydration; yes it's nourishing and I do think it calms and soothes the skin; and yes I think it provides a barrier from the elements. I'm not sure if it makes my makeup last any longer - maybe a touch - but I definitely think that it provides a great base for makeup and helps it adhere and apply better.
All in all, this is a sensational product and I'll definitely be buying more in future. Since it's taken me so long to find a primer I like, I can't imagine that I'll find another one any time soon.
Love. Five stars from me.
