Project Pan 2016: finale and the final tally

I'm yet to bring you my final full update for Project Pan 2017 and I do apologise for that - the reason I'm a touch late is because we had house guests for a couple of weeks over the Christmas period so I had to move all my photography equipment and props etc upstairs, and although I was able to bring everything back down yesterday, I haven't yet had the opportunity to take any photos because the weather has been rubbish and therefore the lighting isn't good.

But I realised this morning that I could still bring you my final Project Pan 2016 tally post (which will be separate from my final update because otherwise the posts combined would be too long), so that's what I'll do today. Then I might give myself a short break before rolling into Project Pan 2017.

So, my last running tally post was at the beginning of August, and here's how my list of finished products looked then:
  • nine lipsticks (one palette)
  • three lip glosses
  • one lip/cheek tint
  • four BB creams/tinted moisturisers (one half-size)
  • two foundations
  • one concealer
  • one highlighter (one cream)
  • one setting powder
  • one contour kit (powder)
  • two eyeshadows (one cream)
  • two eye pencils
  • one toner
  • one cleanser

That's twenty-nine products in total and I was aiming to beat Project Pan 2015's tally of forty products, so let's see now if I managed to do that.

In August 2016 I managed to finish off two eyeliners that had been on my list for ages, as well as a few complexion products including a Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser that I'd been keen to see the back of. So my total for August was:
  • two eyeliners
  • one cleansing oil
  • one tinted moisturiser
  • one primer

Then came September, when I decided to remove a couple of items from my list and bring in some others that I needed to work on more than I did the two products that I removed.

September was also the month when I finally said goodbye to my blush from The Cosmetics Kitchen, because the last little bits shattered and I didn't bother re-pressing them since I'd used the blush enough and was ready to work on something else (plus the blush had become old and difficult to use because it kept developing a crust).

In September I managed to finish:
  • one hair oil
  • one hair treatment product
  • one full-sized duo concealer
  • one blush
  • two lipsticks
  • one foundation (mini)

That's seven items in total, so September was a great month for me and one of the best on record.

In October I finally finished one of my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors, which made me happy because I had three and I needed to move at least one out of my collection. It ended up being a great month for empties because I also finished a bronzer and an eye base, which aren't easy products to pan!

So October's tally was as follows:
  • one highlighter (liquid)
  • one bronzer (powder)
  • one eye base (cream)
  • one lipstick
  • one foundation (mini)

As for November, by then I was starting to get panning fatigue but I also wanted to push myself to do the best that I could by the end of the year, so I stuck my head down and threw extra focus at my products. This paid off because I started to finish some things I thought I would never see the back of, including a huge tube of powder exfoliant and also a cream highlighter.

November's total was as follows:
  • one exfoliant
  • one highlighter (cream)
  • two lipsticks
  • two face masks
  • one BB cream
  • one concealer (travel-sized)
  • one hair treatment
  • one foundation (mini)

That's ten whole products for November - my best Project Pan month ever. Huzzah!

As for December, I have 'completed' the project for 2016 and I've stopped using my items to give myself a break, but as mentioned in my intro above, I haven't yet had the chance to photograph everything and write my final update so this post will give you a sneak peek into what I've managed to finish.

For my final PP month of 2016, I was able to finish:
  • one perfume
  • one highlighter (powder)
  • one tanning mousse
  • one lipstick
  • one gloss
  • one body glow cream
  • one eyeliner
  • one BB cream
  • one foundation

That's another nine products, so not a bad month!

The final tally

For Project Pan 2016, my final list is as follows:
  • fifteen lipsticks (one palette)
  • four lip glosses
  • one lip/cheek tint
  • one primer
  • seven BB creams/tinted moisturisers (one half-size)
  • six foundations (three minis)
  • three concealers (one travel-sized)
  • one blush (powder)
  • one bronzer (powder)
  • four highlighters (two cream, one liquid, one powder)
  • one setting powder
  • one contour kit (powder)
  • three eyeshadows (two cream)
  • five eye pencils
  • one toner
  • two cleansers
  • two face masks
  • one exfoliant
  • one hair oil
  • two hair treatment products
  • one perfume
  • one tanning mousse
  • one body glow cream

That's sixty-five products in total, so I've done much better this year than I did in 2015 - woot woot! Indeed, I had to count things twice because that's a lot more products than I was expecting to see in my final tally.

In sum

It's definitely been a great Project Pan year for me and I've got my work cut out for me if I want to match it in 2017. If I think about it, I probably won't be able to manage it because I'm starting this coming panning year with less products in my makeup inventory than I had at the beginning of last year, although I do need to start focusing on things like skincare so it may yet be a good year for Project Pan.

I promise I'll photograph my products for my final PP 2016 update as soon as I can - not an easy task with two kids under two, so wish me luck!

Let me know if you had a good year for Project Pan 2016 or whether you're planning to do Project Pan 2017.
