Lancôme Advanced Génifique Yeux Light-Pearl Eye Illuminating Serum - review
/
0 Comments
You may remember that I recently reviewed the Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Serum (review here). It was sent to me for trial along with this matching eye serum, and I've been using them for ages now so it's definitely time to review this second one.
Long story short, I think the face serum is better and it's done a lot more for me than this eye serum has. I don't think it's a bad product, it's just that I haven't seen the amazing results that I saw from the face serum so it's not one I would buy.
Still, it's been nice to use and it has had some fantastic reviews so it obviously works wonders for some.
Lancôme claims/product details:
- Contours your eyes for a younger-looking and brighter appearance
- With the unique massaging 360° Light-Pearl™ applicator, this high-performance, multitasking formula is applied using a rotating motion to refresh the eye contour and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce dark circles and under-eye puffiness
- Also reduces the appearance of crow’s feet, wrinkles and fine lines around the eye contour
- Eye area appears brighter and smoother
- Puffiness will be less visible
- Eye area will appear light and refreshed, and noticeably younger-looking
- RRP $105 AUD for 20ml
I must say, I do like the applicator (let's call it a bauble). It feels cooling and refreshing against the skin, so it adds something to the experience of using it at least. You can see it pictured below.
But the thing is, I have a very puffy upper eye area and I have hooded eyes and slightly raised under eye bags, but I've seen no difference to any puffiness throughout the testing period. Perhaps if you didn't have hereditary puffiness (but lifestyle-based, water-retention), this might be able to target the issue. It hasn't helped me.
Verdict
I was thrilled to receive this and the face serum to trial and while both are nice, the face serum is the better product and I love it so much that not only has it made a favourites post, it's also a repurchase item for me and I plan to buy it when I'm running low on serums.
This eye serum is a fluid product that comes in a beautiful, weighty bottle. You apply it with a metal wand that has a 'bauble' on the end. No complaints about the packaging - it's lovely and easy to use, plus it protects the contents well because it's thick and sturdy. The bauble is also very cooling on the eye so using the product is a really enjoyable experience.
This product doesn't have any scent that I can detect, so it shouldn't bother those who don't like fragranced products.
It's a thin product (just how I like my serums) and it spreads and absorbs beautifully. After use, my eyes look brighter and more awake, but unfortunately I haven't noticed the same benefits from using this product that I've noticed from using the face serum: that is, I haven't noticed any impact on fine lines and wrinkles, and it's also not as hydrating as the serum so I definitely need to go in with a good cream after using this product.
I also noticed some toning and firming action with the face serum, but this eye serum hasn't had the same effect on my skin. And I've been using it consistently for over two months now so you'd expect to see some change by then.
While I would absolutely recommend the face serum, I can't recommend this eye serum because it hasn't yet done enough for me to warrant the price-tag. Still, it's wonderful to use and it does have a brightening effect, so I'm really enjoying it while I have it.
Nice.
