Nuxe Nuxellence Eclat Anti-ageing Day Serum - review
/
1 Comments
This little serum showed up in our Maslow & Co French Edit (unboxed here) and I was pleased to discover this morning that I'd already edited the photos for this post: reason being, I'm about to cut open the tube so I need to sneak in this review sooner rather than later.
I do like Nuxe as a brand and I'm pretty sure that I haven't yet found a product from Nuxe that I don't like. While this serum isn't amazing, it's not a bad product and I think what's happening here is that I've used so many fantastic serums lately that this one faded into the background. More on that below.
Please note that this sample is 15ml in size, so because I like to test most skincare products for at least six weeks before reviewing them, what I did with this was use it only in the morning as directed (and only on my face - not my neck etc) for a month, then I gave it a rest for a week to see how my skin reacted, and for the last couple of weeks I've been using it morning and night.
All I've noticed during the testing period is that the other serum I'm currently using does more for me than this one does (the other one's from Lancome: I'll review it soon). Indeed, I'm not sure how much this has done at all, aside from make my skin look a bit more glowy after application.
Nuxe claims/product details:
- The formula of this anti-ageing fluid holds 10 patents
- With passion flower and hyaluronic acid, it targets the core of skin cells to help them maintain optimum energy levels
- Skin is luminous and appears younger
- Enriched with pigment correctors, the fluid immediately illuminates skin
- Its light texture is quickly absorbed, so you can apply your additional skincare products straight afterwards
- For all skin types: for normal to combination skin, can be used alone; for dry and very dry skin, apply before a moisturising cream
- Boosts effectiveness of your anti-ageing or hydrating care
- To use: apply every morning to recharge your skin and restore its youthful radiance; gently warm the product on the tips of your fingers before application
- RRP $64.95 AUD for 50ml, but do shop around
Verdict
I don't dislike this product but it hasn't done anything for me either so it's not one I would buy.
It's pale peach in colour and it has a fresh, fruity scent that's quite light but it's definitely there - so I would test this first if you don't like products you can smell because you mightn't like this.
The product has an unusual texture: it's like a hybrid oil/cream, and you really do need to warm it in your hands before application - otherwise you'll use too much. If you let it melt a little first, then you don't need much at all.
What I like about this is that it offers plenty of grease for my dry skin without feeling too heavy. It sinks reasonably well and offers a tacky, glowy finish that suits my skin type - but oily skinned lasses may want to skip this product because it may be too oily/luminous for some.
I also like that it keeps my dry skin feeling comfortable, although I generally prefer thinner, more watery serums - and while I can't say for sure that this interferes with my moisturiser's ability to absorb, I do think it leaves behind a bit of a coating so it's not my favourite serum for this reason.
Otherwise there's not much to say about this product, other than that it hasn't done anything hugely beneficial for my skin so it's not for me. I think it's fine if you need some hydration, but you can buy a budget facial oil for that without spending sixty-odd dollars on this.
Ok.
