Love Beauty and Planet Murmuru Butter & Rose Oil Aroma Body Wash - review

This product was sent to me for review, and while I'm always excited and grateful to receive new products, unfortunately it doesn't work for me and I've found it to be very drying.

Nevertheless it's had some good reviews from others so of course these things always come down to personal preference, although I do want to point out that the product has a high pH so I won't be surprised if it dries out others' skin too. More on that below.

Verdict

I wanted to like this product and it's had some great reviews, but unfortunately it doesn't work for me because it dries out my skin.

It's a standard gel body wash in texture and it has a sweet scent that's quite strong so do be aware of that if you don't like strong smells in your body care - and note that it contains fragrance, which can be irritating, so you may wish to avoid this if you have sensitive skin.

The first thing I noticed about the product was just how much it foams. While it's a rich and creamy kind of foam that feels nice on the skin, I wasn't surprised to discover that it strips my dry skin and dries it out further - nor was I surprised to see sodium laureth sulphate (SLES) on the ingredients list (this ingredient can also irritate skin), which would explain why it's foaming so much and also drying out my skin.

Plus I tested the product's pH this morning and found that it's coming in at somewhere between a nice and a ten, so it's on the astringent side and this would explain why it's stripping my skin and leaving me with that squeaky clean feeling that isn't necessarily a good thing.

So unfortunately I don't recommend this product because it doesn't suit my skin and dries it out, but I do enjoy the experience of using it and of course these things always come down to personal preference and what your skin can tolerate. The high pH does worry me though, so that's something to keep in mind.

Not for me.
