Ethique Matcha, Lime & Lemongrass Bodywash Bar - review
/
0 Comments
I'm back today with another Ethique review, and I have two more of these to write on products I currently have open so I might try to get both of those done over the next few days.
As you may know, I've been testing a bundle of Ethique products this year because I'm trying to reduce the amount of plastic I bring into the house, and this soap is next on my list.
Do note that this particular soap is different from the other Ethique bodywash bars and body scrubs I've tried for a few reasons, including that it's a different shape, it's harder in texture and it lathers more.
So if you've had issues with Ethique soaps melting too quickly or not feeling as though they clean that well, I'd try this one because it has a little more punch than the others I've tried and it's also better value because it lasts longer. More on that below.
Ethique claims/product details:
- With a fresh, sweet but citrusy scent from a combination of lime and lemongrass oils together with matcha tea powder
- Also contains coconut oil and olive oil to moisturise your skin as it cleanses
- Part of the new Ethique range, it's designed to fit more comfortably into your hand, and has been milled to give a hard, dense bar that lasts longer than the original formula
- Suitable for all skin types
- An ideal choice for your morning shower
- Made in NZ; certified carbon neutral company; 100% biodegradable; compostable packaging; palm oil free; gluten free; certified cruelty free and vegan
- RRP $9 AUD for 120g
Verdict
This is the best-value and most effective Ethique soap I've used to date so it's one I recommend if you want to try something from the brand and don't know where to start. Before writing this review, I didn't realise that this was a new formula that had been made to last longer - and I think they've achieved that so that's a plus.
It's a green bar of soap that smells like lime and lemongrass. It's a beautifully refreshing and uplifting scent, and it's the kind of fragrance that's good for the morning because it wakes the senses up.
As mentioned above, this soap is harder than the others I've tried from Ethique and I find that it doesn't melt away anywhere near as quickly and it also holds its shape in the shower well, meaning it's lasting me longer so it's better value.
It also lathers up a little, and no other Ethique soap or scrub I've tried to date has done that, so it feels like it cleanses better than the others - although of course this could just be a mental thing because we do equate lather with cleansing, but I will say that my skin feels cleaner after use than it has with the old Ethique formula.
As for the new shape of the soap, I don't mind it in theory but in practice it doesn't fit inside Ethique's soap containers (you can buy these separately), and I'm not sure why they haven't thought of that aspect because it's annoying. All my other Ethique soaps fit into them (two at a time), but this is too long so I had to house it separately until it got smaller in size. The brand's soaps should fit the brand's containers. Just saying.
As for effect, it cleans my skin well and leaves it feeling soft and hydrated after use. It also hasn't dried out my already dry skin over time, which is a plus for me because some soaps can do that.
Overall I enjoy this product and think it's the most effective, best-value Ethique soap I've tried to date. It's also cheaper than most Ethique products so that's something to keep in mind too.
Lovely.
