Goldfaden MD Fresh a Peel - review

This peel came in a Goldfaden MD skincare kit and I've now been using it for over four months so it's high time I reviewed it.

Long story short, I do like it and it does work for me, but it's expensive for what it is so I wouldn't buy it. Indeed, I was lucky enough to get this full-sized product, a full-sized eye cream and a sample Goldfaden mask for $110, which is less than this peel costs alone.

Goldfaden MD claims/product details:

  • A multi-acid resurfacing peel that provides targeted treatment for uneven skin texture
  • A non-irritating exfoliant that helps leave skin looking luminous
  • A potent blend of lactic acid and multi-fruit enzymes combine in this exfoliating gel to gently remove dead skin cells for fresh, youthful-looking skin
  • Lactic acid works to prevent sun damage and reduce acne breakouts, impurities and excess oil build-up, while sugar cane helps to reduce the formation of blemishes
  • Promotes regular skin cell turnover
  • The appearance of pore size and imperfections are reduced, leaving skin softer, smoother and more radiant looking
  • RRP $130 AUD for 50ml

Verdict

I think this is a nice product and it definitely works, I just think it's expensive for what it is and I can use similar products from Alpha-H or even The Ordinary to get the same results for a fraction of the price.

It's a lightweight gel that applies and spreads well. It's thin in texture so you don't need much each time and this tube will last for ages, which at least makes it better value on a price-per-use basis.

You're meant to use this twice or thrice weekly on clean skin, and you leave it on for one to three minutes, depending on tolerance. I've been using mine twice a week for the last four months, and sometimes I leave it on for a little longer than directed because my skin is used to acids so I can tolerate them pretty well.

What I find is that this resurfaces my skin beautifully and removes that top layer of dead skin easily. After use my skin is left looking brighter and feeling smoother, and it looks more even and youthful to boot. It also helps my skincare to apply and absorb better after use, because it's cleared the path so things can really sink in and nourish my skin.

I also like that this hasn't irritated my face while I've been using it, and I think it's been formulated well. It feels quite soothing and cooling when applied, and although I'm aware that it's working, I don't think it's too harsh or irritating - or at least it isn't on me.

On the claims: yes this helps with uneven skin texture; yes it's non irritating (on me); yes it helps my skin look brighter, fresher and more youthful; yes I think it's helped reduce my break-outs; and yes it leaves my skin feeling softer and smoother.

Overall I think this is a decent product that generally meets its claims and I do recommend it, it's just that it's expensive for what it is and it doesn't work any better for me than eg the acids from Alpha-H and The Ordinary. So while I like it, I wouldn't buy it again.

Good but not cheap.
