Bourjois Little Round Blush Pot in 16 Rose Coup de Foudre - review

Bourjois' Little Round Blush Pots are one of those products that I'd always wanted to own but never had. Beauty lovers rave about them and a beauty blog doesn't seem complete without a review of one!

I'd never gone out and bought one because I had enough in the blush department and couldn't justify the purchase. Fortunately, Priceline ran a GWP a while back, so by buying a $19 nude/coral lipstick - a colour I'd just run out of and used often - I got a surprisingly decent makeup bag, a full size primer and this full size blush.

It's one of the few GWP buys I've made where I'm actually thrilled with everything and (sort of) 'needed' everything - and the gift was worth a happy $41. Yay to that.

You didn't get to choose the blush so I got number 16 Rose Coup de Foudre, which I wouldn't have picked because the case looks a little pinker than the product is when worn, and pink doesn't suit me. Since there wasn't a tester for this colour, I did an image search on my phone and saw that it turned out with an apricot/peach slant when applied, so I thought I'd be safe with it.

Happily I was!

Anyway, that's more than enough preamble. Let's have a look at the product.

It's a nice little size and travels well, and it comes with a not-very-good brush that I'll probably use anyway because it'll only be used for this product (so I don't need to worry about colours from other blushes being left behind on my usual brush). Hey, I'm lazy. We've established that ; )

Bourjois claims/product details:
  • Soft and velvety
  • Award winning
  • Baked texture transforms when applied to the skin into an ultra-fine pressed powder, which is easy to apply and blends well
  • Rose scented
  • Built-in mirror and brush
  • Available in 12 shades
  • RRP $20 for 2.5g (Priceline), but do shop around/wait for specials

Application tips (from Bourjois)

For a natural result, smile and apply the blush on your cheekbones with circular movements, then stretch up to the temples. If you applied too much, don’t worry; just apply a coat of powder on top.

See wrist swatch above and face swatches below.

For some reason, the shimmer shows up more on the wrist and less on the face (lord knows why). On the wrist it's a bit sparkly for my taste, but on the cheeks it just gives a nice glow without being a glitter fest.

Above I've applied it more heavily on one side, and below with a lighter touch.

Verdict

Yeah, these are great - I'm totally getting the hype and they do live up to their claims.

There's so much to love about them: the little size, the range of wearable colours, the price (that is, the discounted price in Australia), and of course the quality.

Some mightn't like the rose fragrance, but it doesn't bother me. I like that the colour of the packaging matches the shade, so if you had a bundle of these, it'd be easy to grab the one you want without checking the labels.

They're travel friendly and I like the 2.5g size. Who really needs blushes as big as they're normally made? It's so hard to finish them! The mirror inside the lid is handy - another travel friendly addition - and the curved brush is usable but not great.

The blushes are pigmented, so do be aware of that and go lightly. Rose Coup de Foudre has a lovely glow to it that looks amazeballs on the cheeks. The color looks light and more shimmery on your wrist, but shows up with more of a sheen on the face (my skin's medium).

The blushes apply well, blend well and last. Have I mentioned that they're baked? Well, they are - and I do like me a baked product ; )

Love. Very glad I've finally got one, and I know I'll get a lot of use from it - particularly because it's a nice spring/summer shade.

Have you used these? Do you have a favourite shade? I wouldn't mind picking up another one when I've finished a blush or two from my collection.
