Moroccanoil Treatment - review
/
0 Comments
This little hair oil came in a subscription box and I was pleased to see it because I've heard a lot about it and I do love me a good hair oil so I thought I would definitely like it.
Turns out I don't, which surprised me because this has had great reviews and I understand it's the 'original' hair oil (from which plenty of other similar oils flowed), but it doesn't work well on either my dry, wavy hair or my daughter's normal, curly hair - which is why I've sent it to Project Pan and am working to get through it. More on that below.
Moroccanoil claims/product details:
- Get the silky, shiny and healthy hair you've always wanted
- Moroccanoil Treatment is the product that pioneered oil-infused haircare and created the worldwide buzz on argan oil
- The original foundation for hairstyling, Moroccanoil Treatment can be used as a conditioning, styling and finishing tool
- Infused with antioxidant-rich argan oil and shine-boosting vitamins, this completely transformative hair treatment detangles, speeds up drying time and boosts shine - leaving you with nourished, manageable and smooth hair with each use
- To use: apply one to two drops to clean, towel-dried hair, from mid-length to ends; blow-dry or let dry naturally; apply on dry hair to tame flyaways, condition split ends and smooth hair
- RRP $28.50 AUD for 25ml or $59.95 for 100ml, but do shop around
Verdict
I don't like this and I was expecting to so I've given it a disappointing products tag.
I don't like this and I was expecting to so I've given it a disappointing products tag.
It's a yellow-coloured oil that's quite thick and sticky, and it has that familiar argan oil scent. I warm it in my hands before application (just one or two drops), then apply it to my dry ends before using any excess on the frizz around my hairline and through the body of my hair.
This just feels wrong on me. A good hair oil should absorb and hydrate your locks, adding shine and nourishment but otherwise leaving no trace. This doesn't do that. What it does is make my hair look and feel greasy - no matter how little I use - and it also weighs my hair down and reduces the time between washes.
A good hair oil should also detangle. When I use my Natural World Moroccan Argan Oil (reviewed here) on either my own or my daughter's hair before brushing, it makes the whole process ten times easier. When I use this, it does bugger all. Sometimes I think it even makes things worse because it makes our hair feel sticky.
As for frizz and flyaways, I suppose it helps those a little through the body of my hair but it does nothing for the wiry stuff around the hairline, which is harder to tame.
It also doesn't make my hair look or feel any better. As mentioned above, it just weighs my hair down and makes it dirty, greasy and sticky.
So in sum, I don't like this product and I don't think it meets any of its claims (including the one about speeding up drying time) so I don't recommend it. Plus it's damn expensive for a hair oil. The aforementioned Natural World product costs $5.99 AUD for 25ml and this one costs a whopping $28.50 for the same amount.
Blurgh. Avoid.
