Andalou Naturals Age-Defying Blossom & Leaf Toning Refresher - review

At the moment I'm trying to get through some review posts, because quite a few products I own are getting close to being finished so I need to review them before they're gone.

Also, I've been sick lately so I spent most of last week editing photos rather than posting, meaning I'm drowning in draft posts again so I'm keen to get through some of them: that way things won't get lost in the madness.

Anyhoo. This toner. As you may know, I've been trying quite a few Andalou products this year and this one's next on the list.

While I do quite like it, it's not my favourite of the Andalou toners I've tried so I probably won't buy it again. More on that below.

Andalou claims/product details:

  • Fruit stem cell complex, resveratrol CoQ10 and aloe vera polysaccharides instantly hydrate and replenish with essential nutrients, gently soothing irritation and balancing skin's delicate pH
  • Geranium and orange leaf uplift and tone for a natural glow and a rejuvenated complexion
  • To use: am and pm, shake well; after cleansing, close eyes and gently mist over face and neck
  • RRP $19.99 AUD for 178ml, but do shop around

Verdict

I think this product is fine, but it's not my favourite toner from Andalou and it's not as effective as the coconut version (reviewed here) so I wouldn't buy it again.

It's a standard fluid toner that comes in a bottle with a pump. The directions say to mist this over your face after cleansing, but I get more benefit from applying it to a cotton pad (I open the bottle and forget the pump to do this: less waste). Reason being, this helps remove that last layer of gunk from my face so it's more effective if I use it like this.

The product smells green, and it's quite a strong scent (albeit a natural one), so do keep that in mind if you don't like strong fragrances. It doesn't linger though, so that's something to keep in mind.

Do note that I've tried misting this over makeup, and it feels super refreshing and cooling so I think it would be great in summer. Also note that while the Andalou toners I've used in the past haven't had great sprays (I get blotches that upset my makeup, leaving me with little holes in my foundation), this one's fine so I can mist it over makeup throughout the day without issue. Perhaps the packaging has recently been updated. Who knows.

As for efficacy, while it does feel soothing on the skin, it's not as hydrating as the coconut version and it doesn't have the same firming/toning effect either - so although I enjoy using it, it doesn't have enough punch for me personally. I also find that it can sometimes feel like it's taking too much from my skin, so my face has been dry while I've been using it.

Overall I think this toner is fine but it's not my favourite from Andalou so I probably won't buy it again. Still, I do enjoy how it feels when I spritz it throughout the day so I may well reserve what I have left for the warmer months.

Nice.
