Goldfaden MD Bright Eyes - review

I've been using this eye cream for ages and I must be getting to the end of my bottle now, so I wanted to review it before it's gone for good.

While I think it's decent and I can see why it's had some great reviews, it's not the best eye cream I've tried for my dry skin so I wouldn't buy it again. More on that below.

Goldfaden MD claims/product details:

  • This targeted brightening treatment calls on powerhouse plant-based ingredients to brighten, firm and nourish tired eyes
  • This weightless eye cream reduces the appearance of dark circles, puffiness and fine lines by stimulating blood flow in the area
  • Enriched with potent botanicals and hyaluronic acid, the cream also provides a hit of hydration to leave the under-eyes with a luminous glow
  • Arnica tincture: calms and soothes the appearance of dry, inflamed skin and puffiness
  • Soy peptides: decrease the appearance of puffiness while helping skin feel firmer
  • Hyaluronic acid: maintains the skin’s moisture levels to prevent dehydration
  • Made without: animal products, parabens, silicone, gluten, mineral oil and alcohol
  • RRP $84 AUD for 15ml

Verdict

I'm 39 and I have dry skin, so I'm always in the market for great eye creams that hydrate well and keep my eye area looking as nourished and feeling as smooth as possible. While this eye cream is fine, I've certainly used better so it's not one I would buy again.

The product comes in a little pump bottle and it's lightweight in texture while still having a rich-enough feel. It spreads and applies well, and a little goes a long way so this bottle is lasting me a while - a good thing, since it's not cheap.

When it comes to eye creams, if I'm using a dud one then I have a wrinkle that appears over one of my eyes within two days. If the eye cream is hydrating enough, that wrinkle is kept at bay. The good news with this eye cream is that I haven't seen that wrinkle while I've been using it, which means that it's doing just enough to nourish my eye area.

Having said this, my eyes don't feel as comfortable as they do when I'm using a really hydrating product, so this eye cream isn't perfect for my dry skin. Yes it's winter here at the moment so my eyes are drier than usual, but I can still tell that my skin needs a little more than this offers - and my eye area hasn't been as smooth and nourished as I would like while I've been using it.

In terms of effect, yes it does brighten my eye area a bit but I'd say that's because it contains a healthy dose of glycerin, which alone adds radiance and also means that the product leaves a tacky coating on my skin that likely won't be for everyone.

On the claims: yes it's a little brightening but no I haven't noticed any firming; yes it's hydrating and nourishing, but not quite enough for my dry eyes; no it hasn't done anything for my dark circles, puffiness or my fine lines; and no I don't think it's calming or soothing either.

Overall I think this eye cream is fine and I've been able to use it without issue for the past four months, but it's not quite hydrating enough for me so I wouldn't buy it again. It's also an expensive product - and for the price, I need it to do more than it does.

Decent but not my favourite.
