Thursday Plantation Nurture Oil - review

You'll have to forgive me for the scratched packaging above: I bought this oil on clearance so it had a big sticker on it that I had to pull off, and no matter how careful I was, I couldn't do it without damaging the box.

Hoh well. This oil. I haven't tried much from Thursday Plantation but when I saw this on sale for five dollars, I thought I'd grab it because I was low on body oil and could always do with another one.

While it's ok, I think it's expensive for the amount you get and I've used other oils that do more for me, so I wouldn't buy it again.

Verdict

Since this is meant to work on scars and stretch marks, I've been using mine exclusively on my thigh and bum region, plus because there's only a measly 60ml in this (not enough for a body oil), I thought I'd better ration it or otherwise I'd have burned through it in a week or two.

It's a thick, yellow oil with a strong scent (I mostly smell lavender). I find that I need to use a lot of product because it's so thick and it doesn't spread as well as I would like - indeed, I'm using at least fifteen pumps just to cover my thighs and bum. Oh dear.

While I do think it's a very nourishing and hydrating oil, it hasn't done anything for my stretch marks or scars etc so I don't think it's particularly effective. By comparison, Bio Oil (reviewed here) does reduce the look of scarring and other skin imperfections, so I would go for that over this any day. Plus I don't need to use as much Bio Oil per application so the bottle lasts a lot longer.

Do note that you can use this on the face and I tried it twice that way, but found it was too thick and heavy for that - and I have dry skin, so if you have oily skin then I would steer clear. It's incredibly rare for me to say that a product is too heavy for me, so if this one is, that says something.

Overall I think this oil is ok and I do like how nourishing and hydrating it is on my body, but it doesn't do anything else and I don't think it meets most of its claims. Also, the bottle is too small for a body oil so I don't think it's good value, even though it's reasonably priced in theory.

I've used better.
