I unboxed a BareMinerals skincare kit a while ago (see here) and this is the last item left of the three that I need to review because I opened it last.
I've now been using it for over three months and I'm pleased to say that I really like it, and although it's not the most effective serum I've ever used, it's still excellent and I recommend it. More on that below.
BareMinerals claims/product details:
- Achieve your most resilient, youthful-looking skin yet with this lightweight, innovative serum
- Powered by the patented Long Life Herb Extract, derived from the resilient, nutrient-rich herb renowned for its tenacious ability to thrive, this serum leaves skin renewed and fortified
- The first of its kind, SkinLongevity combines the weightlessness and absorption of an essence with the efficacy and potency of a serum for the ultimate hybrid formulation
- Fine lines and wrinkles are softened, moisture is restored and skin is adorned with a youthful radiance
- After a 14 day trial, 90% of women felt SkinLongevity enhanced the healthy look and feel of their skin
- RRP $89 AUD for 50ml
Verdict
I think this is a really nice serum, and while it's not quite as good as my HG Lancome serum (reviewed here), it's still great and it's not unlike the Lancome one in terms of texture and effect - it's just that Lancome's offering achieves more visible results and works better for my skin overall.
It's a cloudy, runny gel that spreads like water on the skin and absorbs instantly. It has a barely detectable, light and fresh fragrance that shouldn't bother most people.
I've been using this product every morning and on alternate evenings for the past three months. What I love about it is that it has a brightening effect so it boosts radiance, plus it plumps fine lines and wrinkles a little (at least temporarily) so it makes my skin look smoother too.
I also feel that it firms and tones the skin a little bit, at least for a while after I've applied it. Indeed, my skin looks more healthy when I use this, and it feels softer and smoother so makeup glides on better these days, which is always a plus for me personally.
On the claims: yes this leaves my skin looking renewed and brightened; yes it's weightless and absorbs easily; yes it's moisturing and it leaves my skin looking more youthful; and yes it has a very small, temporary effect on softening the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
Overall I think this is an excellent product and I really enjoy it. While it's not quite as effective as the Lancome serum linked above (that one delivers stronger results, to the point that other people notice the difference), it offers similar results - just to a lesser degree - and my skin really likes it.
Worth trying.
