First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream - review

This cream came as a GWP in a Sephora order and it happily contains a decent 28g of product so I've been able to use it every morning for a good couple of months now and I'm ready to review it.

Long story short, it's fine but it's not one I would buy because to me it feels more like a protective barrier cream than it does a hydrating, nourishing one. More on that below.

Verdict

I've almost finished this product now and I'm pleased about that because I'm definitely ready to try something else. Sure, it's been fine - but I do have dry skin and I need a moisturiser that penetrates and nourishes better than this does.

It's a white cream with a light fragrance that smells like...cream. It applies and spreads well, although it is quite thick and rich so it mightn't be for those with oily skin or those who prefer more lightweight skincare.

What I always notice about this is that it gives the appearance of being super hydrating and nourishing, but in practice it's neither of those things. Indeed, my skin feels coated when I apply this - and it does leave a tacky film behind - but my face remains dry and uncomfortable underneath.

This isn't the first time I've come across this issue in a heavier cream: that is, you think it will juice up your dry skin but in reality all it does is leave a tacky trace and a protective barrier behind, without delivering moisture where you need it most. That's what this cream has done for me.

On the claims: no it doesn't banish dry skin; no it doesn't leave my skin feeling smooth, hydrated or comfortable; no it doesn't provide immediate relief or visible improvement for parched skin; and no it hasn't calmed any areas of discomfort or targeted scaly, flaky skin.

Overall I don't think this is a terrible product but it hasn't worked for me so I can't recommend it. Yes I've seen some good reviews so it's certainly worth testing, but I personally need something that penetrates and delivers moisture better than this does.

Not for me.
