Pureplus+ Milk Bebe Lip Treatment - review and swatches

I received this product a year ago from Memebox (see the Volume Up! box I reviewed here), and I've left it sitting in the 'later' basket because I love it and wanted to save it.

But a year is too long to leave something sitting around - I didn't realise it had been open for that amount of time until I went to write this review. Ooops!

So I've now moved the gloss I was using out of my handbag and this one's going to get a lot of love until it's gone. Expect to see it on my Project Pan list soon : )

Pureplus+ claims/product details:
  • A treatment that's proven to replenish, nourish and plump dry, chapped lips
  • Formulated with a high concentration of collagen, which penetrates the skin to fill in wrinkles and plump the lips
  • Contains milk protein extracts, snail mucus, collagen, shea butter, grape seed oil, hyaluronic acid and vitamin e
  • RRP $10 USD for 10g

The gloss comes in a simple plastic tube with black and white cow print, and it's a normal squeeze-out arrangement.

The packaging isn't really my style but I've grown to like it because it's easy to find in my handbag since it stands out.

It's a plain, clear gloss that's quite thick and sticky:

Even on my hand you can see that it fills in lines (I'm talking about where I've sheered it out at the bottom below, not the thicker portion of the swatch):

Verdict

When I first saw this product in my Memebox, I thought I would hate it - it just looks a bit cheap and the packaging doesn't scream 'quality' to me.

But believe it or not, I like this a hell of a lot more than I thought I would - indeed, it's one of the best lip glosses I've used in a while.

It's a thick, clear gloss with a sugar sweet scent that's not overpowering and doesn't linger. It's a little sticky but I personally don't mind that because it adheres well and lasts a lot longer on the lips than other glosses.

I like it because it's comfortable to wear, and it's clear so I can chuck it over any lip product without affecting the underlying colour. While it does soften the underlying colour a little, this is a plus for me because I have so many bright lipsticks that need the edge taken off them and this makes them more wearable on an everyday basis.

What I love most about it is that it makes my lips look nice and full. My lips definitely look better when I'm wearing this so I'll happily use it all the time. Plus it's super moisturising and it seems to have a protective factor too, in terms of shielding your lips from the elements.

On the claims: I do think it nourishes and replenishes dry lips; it does fill in wrinkles and plump the lips; and I can tell that it contains goodies that treat my lips while I'm wearing it.

I'm not sure how it would fare if my lips were chapped and irritated because they haven't been that way for a while (probably because I'm swimming in lip products that I'm trying to finish ; )), but I have a feeling it would help for this because it does feel so moisturising and protective.

All in all, this is a sensational product and I love it.

Recommended.
