Alpha-H Gentle Daily Exfoliant - review
/
0 Comments
You may remember that I opened this kit recently because I'd just finished off a few skincare items and needed to replace them.
Three of the five items I'd tried before but two of them are new to me: the facial sunscreen and this exfoliant.
Happily I love both the new products and it was love at first use with this one especially, so I'll have to save my pennies and buy the full size because already I can't imagine life without it!
The kit contains Alpha-H's Liquid Gold, Balancing Cleanser, Liquid Gold Smoothing & Perfecting Mask, Protection Plus Daily SPF 50+ and this Gentle Daily Exfoliant.
It was love at first use with this exfoliant, so much so that I moved writing this post ahead of others because I couldn't wait to talk about it : )
Alpha-H claims/product details:
- An award-winning, zero-abrasion micro-exfoliating treatment
- Effortlessly lifts away dead, dull and tired skin cells to unveil younger looking skin
- Water-activated fruit enzymes derived from green papaya and pineapple ensure a smooth, fresh canvas each and every day
- A powder exfoliant that 'comes to life' when mixed with water
- Removes unwanted dead skin cells while leaving healthy skin cells intact
- Enzymes instantly break down corneocytes to achieve immediate exfoliation
- Softens surface pigmentation and uneven skintone
- Can exfoliate even the most sensitive skin without harm
- Key ingredients: papaya, pineapple and green clay
- For all skin types
- To use: after thoroughly cleansing the skin, dispense approximately one teaspoon of product into damp hands and mix into a smooth paste with your fingertips; massage over the face, neck and décolletage for one minute in circular motions and rinse off with warm water
- RRP $62 AUD for 50g, but do shop around
Verdict
This stuff is sensational and it's quickly earned a permanent place in my routine so I'll be looking out for Alpha-H specials so I can buy the full size.
It's a white, odourless powder that doesn't look like much in the container, but once mixed with water and applied to the skin as a paste, it does indeed 'come to life' and it's a beautiful, gentle exfoliant.
Even though it does feel gentle on the skin, it does a remarkable job of resurfacing and my face looks so much fresher, brighter and cleaner after using this. It also feels smoother and more even, so it's a good product for morning because makeup goes on like a dream when used over this product.
One thing I don't like about it is that it's a little fiddly to use. The full size happily comes in a different container, which is a good thing because this travel-sized tub isn't well-designed. The cap is quite hard to get off so you put some force into it, and when it does finally pop off, the force you've used backfires and shifts the tub, meaning that some of the very fine powder spews out.
This happened to me a few times - no matter how careful I was - so what I do now is I don't close the top completely, so it's easier to get off. It might even be a better idea to transfer it into a different tub so I can be sure that the lid is properly sealed, but that's another story.
I'm also not a huge fan of having to mix this into a paste because I don't always get the consistency right (sometimes it's too thick and sometimes I've accidentally over-watered it), so do be careful and don't chuck your hand directly under the tap when you add water: it's better to drip a little in with your fingers or you'll risk adding too much and losing the watery product as it slips from your hands.
I wouldn't normally put up with something that requires extra effort because I'm lazy, but in this case I like the product so much that I'm prepared to live with the extra hassle.
On the claims: it definitely lifts away dead and dull skin to reveal what's underneath; it does give you a smooth and fresh canvas; it does 'come to life' when mixed with water; it does soften uneven skintone and it's fine for sensitive skin.
Overall, this is a fantastic product that does exactly what it says it will do. I love it so much that I've given it an HG tag.
Can't rave about this one enough : )
