Omorovicza Balancing Moisturiser - review

Happily I've already knocked off two Omorovicza reviews this morning and I'm back to do a third, which will round-off the reviews I need to do for this set.
After that I'll do a final post that includes mini reviews of each item in the five-piece kit so you can work out if you want to buy the whole thing or would rather purchase an item or two separately.
Of the five items in the set, I reckon this cream might just be my favourite.
Yes I liked the Queen of Hungary Mist (reviewed here) and the Cleansing Foam (reviewed here), but while those two grew on me over time, I liked this one from the first use. Something about it is just - I dunno, good - and I'm really glad I've tried it.
As for whether I would buy it: look, probably not, but that's because I don't think you need to pay this much for great skincare. Yes it's nice to try something luxurious from time to time, but I have my lines in terms of what I'm prepared to pay for good skincare and Omorovicza crosses them. At least in Australian dollars, because we always pay through the teeth for things here.
Omorovicza claims/product details:
- Ideal for oily and combination skin types, this cooling-gel cream helps re-balance and hydrate the skin
- With a sebum controlling formulation of exotic fruit extracts, it reduces pore size and blurs the appearance of imperfections to keep the skin moisturised yet shine-free
- Also helps to minimise fine lines and wrinkles, making it great for mature skin that's prone to breakouts
- Omorovicza products are powered by a potent blend of Hungary’s mineral-rich healing waters and their patented Hydro Mineral Transference™ delivery system
- RRP $130 AUD for 50ml
Verdict
This is a beautiful product and I'm really enjoying it. Would I drop $130 AUD on the full size? Absolutely not. But I'll happily use this 30ml bottle while I have it, and I'm certainly not complaining about the decent size of this sample because it's made up the cost of the five-piece kit so I do feel that I got my money's worth.
It's a lightweight, white cream with that familiar Omorovicza spa mud scent. I agree that it's a gel-cream because it's so thin and light, and I also agree that it has a cooling effect on the skin. It's one of those products that's refreshing to use and I enjoy the process of applying it to my face. Indeed, I look forward to it.
I use this product in the morning and I've been doing that for two months now, and I'm only around halfway through the bottle - so the kit was definitely a worthwhile investment for me, even for this moisturiser alone.
I have tried it in the evening but I prefer it for morning use because I tend to use a richer moisturiser for night: having dry skin (this cream is designed for oily and combination skin types), I need something with more punch for evening but this product is fine for day-use.
One thing to note is that this cream does leave a slightly tacky finish and while I don't mind that because I'm going in with a primer and makeup etc anyway, it's worth saying because the finish may bother some. Sure it's not terrible, but I'm aware of it so it's something to take into account.
Also, this is one of those creams that does absorb somewhat but it also leaves behind a coating on the skin so I don't feel that all of it is sinking in. While I'm ok with that because I do use a hydrating serum underneath it anyway (so this cream does a good job of sealing in my other products and creating a protective barrier over my face), I wanted to note this aspect because it mightn't be hydrating enough for some. Still, it's designed for oily/combination skin so that's probably why it's been formulated in this way.
On the claims: yes this hydrates the skin but I wouldn't call it a hydration powerhouse; I haven't noticed anything in terms of whether this controls sebum and balances the skin, but then, I have dry skin so I wouldn't notice that; and I don't think it reduces pore size or blurs the appearance of imperfections, but it does hydrate and plump up my skin nicely.
Overall it's hard to pinpoint why I enjoy this cream so much because it's not as though it's performing backflips for my face, but I always look forward to using it and my skin feels nice both during and after application, so that's probably got a lot to do with it.
Lovely but not worth the hefty price-tag, in my opinion.
