Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist - review
/
0 Comments
Not long ago I unboxed my Omorovicza introductory set (see unboxing post here) and I'm back now to review the next product from the five I received.
This is the fabled Queen of Hungary Mist, which is the item I was most excited to try. Indeed, if it hadn't come in the set, then I wouldn't have bought it and instead would have just bought this product - I've heard so much about it that I was itching to try it.
Worth stating from the outset is that, while I do enjoy this product and I'm glad I've had the opportunity to try it, I'm not convinced that I would spend my money on the full-size.
Yes it's lovely and yes it's better than most hydrating mists I've tried, but gosh it's expensive and I'm not sure I want to spend that much on a product like this. More on that below.
Omorovicza claims/product details:
- Purifying and hydrating, this toner was inspired by the Queen of Hungary Water (the world’s first recorded perfume, formulated for Queen Elisabeth of Hungary in the 14th century)
- Perfect for a midday pick-me-up or as a post-cleanse toner
- A quick spritz of this neroli and rose-scented face mist refreshes the skin and lifts the spirits
- Orange blossom, rose and sage waters helps to purify and tone skin
- Apple pectin provides long-lasting hydration
- Skin is left firmer, more supple and younger-looking as Hydro Mineral Transference™ delivers minerals deep into the skin
- RRP $89 AUD for 100ml
Verdict
This is a beautiful product and I'm enjoying using it, and while I do think there's something special and extra about it that places it above other facial mists I've tried, I'm not convinced that it's something I need to spend my money on.
It's a clear product with a light, floral scent that isn't overpowering. I was a little concerned when I read that it was inspired by a perfume because I thought the fragrance might be too strong for my personal tastes, but it's not so that's a plus.
I use mine in the morning after cleansing. While I tend to prefer toners that you apply to a makeup pad because I always find that some leftover grime comes off on the pad (grime that stays on my skin if I use a spray instead), I'm happy to use this as my morning toner because of course I haven't had makeup on overnight so I keep my other toner for the evening spot.
The product feels soothing, hydrating and refreshing when applied. Now that's how most decent facial sprays feel so I'm not giving it a good review for that reason alone. The reason why I think it's better than most is because it does something extra in terms of prepping my skin for other products.
It's hard to describe exactly what it does, but after I've used it, it's as though it does something to my skin that allows my serum and moisturiser to do a better job. Yes this mist hydrates, but it almost feels as though it opens my pores a little - and not in a bad way. In a way that helps my other products to penetrate.
What this means for my dry skin is that I tend to use less of my serum and moisturiser when I use this first, because my skin is less dry and better-prepped for whatever comes next. In this way it operates as a kind of toner and essence in one, so I suppose you could argue that its double-purpose makes it better value in terms of what it's actually doing for your skin.
Worth noting is that I've tried this during the day over makeup, and while yes it feels nice and yes it hydrates my skin, I personally feel that it's a waste of product because it's not performing the 'skin prepping' function when you're applying it over a layer of cosmetics. So I prefer to apply mine to clean skin, but of course that comes down to personal preference.
Overall, I think this is a beautiful product and I'm really enjoying it. Is it worth the $89 AUD price-tag? Maybe, maybe not. Would I buy it? Maybe, maybe not. I'm yet to find my HG essence so I may well talk myself into buying this product down the track, with the justification that I'm getting an essence and a toner in one ; )
A beautiful product.
