Lancome Visionnaire Advanced Skin Corrector - review

I received this in the Spring Edit of Marie Claire's The Parcel (see unboxing here).
This is the second 7ml sample size I've tried of this product, so I feel able to write a full review on it: 7ml is a decent amount and 14ml is more than enough to get a reasonable idea of a product.
Also, I was always a Lancome girl until I developed a beauty obsession and fell for other brands. So I always head straight for the Lancome skincare counter when in Myer or at airports, and I have sampled this a number of times when in-store - it's one of the products I slap on my skin to wake my face up. It's just not one I can afford, so I would only be saving up for it if it were beyond amazing (which it's not, although it is lovely to use).
Lancome claims/product details:
- Visible skin transformation: women see it; clinical tests prove it
- Our second generation formula is designed to help perfect the look of skin every day
- Now provides immediate results, with a improved formula containing double Jasmonate
- Contains LR 2412, a molecule designed to penetrate throughout all the layers of the skin’s epidermis; on its path, it triggers a cascading series of micro-transformations
- After one application: skin feels smoother and more supple; wrinkles and pores are visibly corrected; imperfections like signs of UV damage and acne marks appear diminished
- Much more than a wrinkle-corrector, our first skincare capable of fundamentally re-creating more beautiful skin
- To be applied daily
- RRP $97 for 30ml or $135 for 50ml
Verdict
This is a nice product and, while the sample size probably isn't enough to establish just how effective it is over time, it's enough to know that it does seem to have a beneficial impact on the skin's surface - at least in the short term.
After using it my skin feels velvety and looks more refined. It helps give a smooth base for makeup application and also sits well over makeup if you want to plump yourself up a bit during the day.
Lancome attaches a lot of tall claims to this product, including that it reduces wrinkles and pores, and while I don't think it has any lasting impact on those things, it does have an immediate one. Note, however, that many cheaper products also have an immediate impact on those things - so don't buy this just for that!
On the product's claims, these annoy me a bit because they promise so much: I think it'd be hard for any product to meet all those claims, no matter how good it was. Paula's Choice has a lot to say about those tall claims, so before splurging on this product, I'd do your research and also test it first.
In short, it's probably not worth the Oz price tag, but it's certainly a pleasure to use.
