ProYou Eucalyptus Oil - review
/
0 Comments
I received this little oil in Memebox Special #60 Oil Therapy.
Since my skin and hair tend towards dryness, I'm always up for a decent oil so I was happy with the inclusion at the time. After having used it, I don't feel so happy now (!).
ProYou Eucalyptus claims/product details:
- A soothing facial oil packed with remedial and restorative eucalyptus essential oil
- Treats skin irritations and preserves a youthful appearance
- To use: apply to troubled spots; mix a drop in with your facial cream, toner or mask; or pour a little into a bath for an aromatherapy treat
- RRP $24 for 10ml
Verdict
First, who the hell would pay $24 for 10ml of oil?! Not I!
Second, this smells so potent that it burns my nostrils and makes my eyes water - even when I don't apply it to my face. The smell is so strong that it almost feels like it's burning my skin too, even though it isn't.
Third, this isn't a great oil in terms of how it feels. It's super thin and a 'dry' oil that doesn't feel like it's doing much in terms of hydration, although it certainly leaves you looking pretty greasy.
I stopped applying this to my face after a week of hating it, whether or not it was mixed in with moisturiser (the smell is so strong that even this proved too much). I didn't find that it was soothing at all - probably in part due to the burning, eye-stinging smell - and if it has remedial/restorative properties, I didn't notice those (granted I probably didn't use it long enough on my face to find out: I just couldn't).
It's now getting mixed in with my body cream, although I'm using it under sufferance (don't want to waste it) and it's not going anywhere on my skin where my newborn little girl might smell it and get confused about whether I'm actually her mother (!).
Meh. Avoid. Unfortunate because I've otherwise had a good experience of ProYou products so far.
