Sukin review: Foaming Facial Cleanser, Hydrating Mist Toner, Rose Hip Oil and Facial Moisturiser

As mentioned in my earlier Sukin post, while away last week my skin became super dry and flaky - so I decided to change my skincare routine in case that helped. Sometimes mixing things up can make a difference.

Happily, Sukin products were 20% off at Priceline (I think they still are), so it was a good time to pick some up.

See above what I switched to. The cleanser I received in my Lust Have It Winter Eco Box, the toning mist I bought at Priceline on sale, and the rose hip oil I bought in a special pack that came with a free moisturiser - a good deal because I'd been wanting to try rose hip oil for ages and I'd heard Sukin's was a good one.

Sukin's Hydrating Mist Toner came at a nice cheap price, as all Sukin products do: $9.99 for 125ml (on sale for $7.99).

According to the product details, it combines chamomile and rosewater to help soothe, tone and cool tired skin. It doesn't contain sulphates, animal derivatives, harsh detergents, petro-chemicals, artificial colours, synthetic fragrances, triethanolamine, mineral oils or parabens.

An alcohol free, skin hydrating mist, it aims to provide relief on hot days, long flights or long days in an air-conditioned environment.

My thoughts: I agree with the general consensus that this isn't Sukin's best product. It may as well contain nothing but water; it isn't refreshing and doesn't seem to have any hydrating effect. Avoid.

Sukin's Foaming Facial Cleanser costs $9.99 for 125ml ($2 off currently). I have a 50ml product, which is a great trial size and is happily the same size as the free moisturiser I received in the rose hip oil pack. I've used it a few times after receiving it in the LHI box. I like it - otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to source other Sukin products.

According to the product details, it combines chamomile and rosewater to help soothe, tone and cool tired skin. It does not contain sulphates, animal derivatives, harsh detergents, petro-chemicals, artificial colours, synthetic fragrances, triethanolamine, mineral oils or parabens.

It's meant to deliver gentle, non-drying cleansing to remove impurities, leaving your skin feeling soft, clear and clean.

My thoughts: I quite like this one, especially the smell (many of Sukin's products seem to smell the same, and happily it's a smell I'm down with!). It foams and cleanses well - a bargain for that price. While it isn't the best cleanser I've ever used, it's certainly the best I've used in that price bracket. Big ticks.

Sukin's Facial Moisturiser costs $9.99 for 125ml, and is currently $2 off at Priceline. Happily I got it for free hehe.

It's apparently a lightweight cream that combines an infusion of aloe vera, horsetail, nettle and burdock to soothe with rosehip, wheat germ, jojoba and avocado oil to promote healthy skin renewal and help minimise the signs of aging.

It aims to provide fast-absorbing, deeply penetrating hydration that softens and soothes skin.

It doesn't contain sulphates, animal derivatives, harsh detergents, petro-chemicals, artificial colours, synthetic fragrances, triethanolamine, mineral oils or parabens.

My thoughts: I didn't like this one; it wasn't heavy/moisturising enough for me and I switched to using it as a body cream only two days after first use. I imagine it would be more suitable for those lasses with oily skin who don't need much hydration. It didn't absorb well either, so you're left with white streaks on your skin that take a while to disappear. I've tested a couple of other Sukin moisturising products (eg the serum) and those seem to fare better than this one.

Sukin's fabled Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil! RRP is $19.99 for 25ml. My pack contained 50ml of this and cost only $19.95 (including the free 50ml moisturiser). Steal! I didn't actually get this at Priceline, but at some random pharmacy - I was lucky enough to get the last pack.

According to the product description, it contains vital nutrients to promote healthy skin, assists skin renewal and repair and can help treat problem skin conditions. It's cold-pressed and harnessed from the seeds of wild Chilean grown rosehips via a solvent-free extraction process to retain the oil's precious actives for optimal performance.

Apparently it contains no less than 80% essential fatty acids necessary for protecting cell membranes, skin healing vitamin E, beta carotene and the powerful anti-aging antioxidant, lycopene.

My thoughts: A nice oil and well-priced. Having said this, I haven't noticed a major change in my skin while using it. Granted, I've only been using it for a week - though I would have expected to notice at least a small change in that time. It may be because my skin was so dehydrated after my time away that it'll take some time to correct. I do like this but I'm not completely sold on it yet; I'll let you know if that changes.

Comments from others would be lovely : )

Who has tried Sukin products and what did you think? Any tips for usage? Hooray for cheap products!
