EmerginC Pomegranate Toner - review

I'm over halfway through this toner now and I've been using it for months so it's high time I reviewed it.

You may remember that I bought it during my skincare low buy because I'd run out of toner, and while the other toner I bought at the same time didn't work well for me, this one does and I would absolutely recommend it. More on that below.

EmerginC claims/product details:

  • An active toner with pomegranate and natural fruit acids
  • Removes dead skin cells to reveal a brighter complexion
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • RRP $42 AUD for 240ml, but do shop around (I bought mine for around $25 from memory)

I haven't used much from EmerginC so I had a look at the brand's website to learn more about it.

Apparently it 'began in 1996 with one of the most stable and effective vitamin c serums available. With a limited budget, no formal marketing plan and no office - just a Manhattan studio apartment - we built our brand on buzz and grew by word of mouth. Over time, more products emerged and today we have a wide variety of amazing products, facials and body treatments for all skin types.'

Note that I haven't seen huge amounts of reviews of this brand's products in cyberspace, but what I have seen is generally positive.

Verdict

This is a good product and I recommend it. Indeed, it works so well for me that I may end up buying it again in future.

It's a standard fluid toner that's orange in colour and it has a chemical, acidic scent. You apply it to a cotton pad and run it over your skin after cleansing, and while I'm sure you could use it twice daily if you wanted to because it's not super potent, I've opted to use it at night and just use a standard toner in the morning.

I've been using mine for at least three months now and it's working well for my skin. Note that introducing it meant I had to put aside my HG Alpha-H Liquid Gold for a while, and when I first did that, I broke out along my chin - I think because the Alpha-H is stronger than this one, and also my skin needed to adjust to the change.

After about two weeks of using this, the break-outs cleared up - and note that I get break-outs along my chin unless I'm using a decent toner, so we can say that this is decent, it's just that the Alpha-H works more quickly.

What I love about this is that it feels like it's clearing the gunk from my face, and the makeup pad certainly comes away dirty whenever I use it. It has that slightly astringent feel as it pulls away the dirt and impurities from my skin, and I can also feel it clearing away dead skin cells. But despite how effective it is, my dry skin has been able to tolerate it well.

After use my skin is left looking brighter and feeling smoother, and this has also helped keep my face clear over time so I don't have as many break-outs as I do when I'm not using a product like this. I also think it clears the path for my skincare to absorb better, because it has a resurfacing effect so it's removing the dead skin and leaving the newer skin ready for skincare.

Overall I think this is an excellent product that meets its claims and I recommend it. It's not too expensive (and you can often find it on special), plus you get a good amount in the bottle so it's good value. On top of that, it does a great job of keeping my face clear and looking healthy, and while it's not as potent as other treatment toners I've used, it's still effective.

Worth trying.
