Nude by Nature Moisture Shine Lipstick in 03 Dusty Rose - review and swatches

I received this lipstick to review two months ago and I've now put it onto my Project Pan list, so I've been testing it for a while and I want to get it reviewed today so I can turn my mind to other posts.

As you may know, the amount of draft posts I have before me has been sitting at just over the seventy mark for a while, but this week it's looking as though I might crack below fifty if I get my head down. I hope so. Too many draft posts means things can get lost and that's not a great position to be in.

Anyhoo! This lipstick. Honestly, the best thing about it is the packaging: it's really lovely. It's sleek and it has some weight to it, plus it has a fancy magnetic closure. It's easily the nicest packaging I've come across in a brand you'd find in Priceline. Huzzah.

As for the lipstick itself, it's not the right product for me but it's not terrible and I've certainly used worse. Foo. More on why below.

I received shade 03, Dusty Rose, which isn't a colour I would have chosen for myself (too pink to suit me), but it's still a nice shade and I can see it suiting a lot of people.

Verdict

As mentioned above, the stand-out aspect of this lipstick is the packaging. I enjoy the process of applying it for that reason alone: it feels high-end and I feel a bit special whenever I use it. Indeed, I would almost buy a couple more of these just to have them sitting in my lipstick stand (which is currently full of empties in mostly cheap-looking packaging), so the whole arrangement can look a bit fancier.

As for the lipstick itself, it's nicely hydrating and I appreciate this because I have super dry lips and one of my pet peeves is lipsticks that dry me out even further. This one doesn't so that's a huge plus.

It also applies smoothly without tugging and the formula is creamy. Note that it goes on a little thickly so I'm aware of it after application, but it's still comfortable to wear so that's the main thing.

Unfortunately, though, this lipstick doesn't perform. It slides around, slips into lines and emphasises lip texture (you can see that in the photos above). It also doesn't wear well - an hour at best for me - and I can usually taste it pretty soon after application because it slides into my mouth. Not ideal.

Shade 03 Dusty Rose is a nice, standard pink, and while it's not my kind of shade because pink doesn't suit me, it's still a decent colour and I can see it working for a range of skintones.

Overall I don't like the formula of this lipstick for the reasons mentioned above, but it's not a bad product and you might be ok with this if you're younger than I am and don't have lip lines yet, although don't expect it to last well because it shifts very easily. Yes the packaging is to die for, but I need something that performs better than this does.

Not for me.
The stand-out aspect of this lipstick is the packaging: it's by far the nicest packaging I've come across from a brand that you'd find in the pharmacy. It has some nice weight to it, looks sleek and has a magnetic closure. I enjoy the process of applying it for this reason alone: it feels high-end and I feel a bit special when I use it.

As for the lipstick itself, it's nicely hydrating and I personally appreciate this because I have super dry lips and one of my pet-peeves is lipsticks that dry me out even further. This one doesn't so that's a huge plus.

Unfortunately, though, the lipstick itself doesn't perform. It slides around, slips into lines and emphasises my lip texture. It also doesn't wear well at all (an hour at best for me).

I have the shade 'Dusty Rose', and I would be interested in trying other shades to see whether they work better for me (occasionally formula differences do exist between shades) - simply because I like the packaging so much and also like that the product is hydrating enough (most lipsticks aren't for me personally).

I've given it a *** for the packaging, and a ** if you're not interested in that aspect of the product
