Australis Clear Lash & Brow Extender - review
/
1 Comments
This is one of those products that just didn't want to photograph, so short of taking a third round of shots, I've decided to roll with the best ones I have. Since it's not a coloured product that you need to see to get an idea of, I hope these photos are clear enough.
I also should have photographed the product before I started using it: it started to go cloudy after the first use and doesn't look that pretty anymore! But I guess it shows what your product will look like once you've started to use it.
Australis claims/product details:
- Fibre-free, natural clays construct longer-looking lashes in an instant
- Fast-drying formula in waterproof and clear for all day long-lasting wear
- An easy to use two-in-one product to make your brows and lashes look red carpet worthy
- For either lashes or brows
- Extend and elongate without flaking
- Cruelty free
- RRP $11.49 AUD for 7.5g
Verdict
Brow gels are one of those makeup items that I absolutely refuse to spend a lot of money on. I have tried the comparable Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel because I received it in a subscription box, but I honestly can't tell the difference between this product and that one. So why would I spend $40 when I can spend $10?
Both products are clear but don't stay that way because your brow colour transfers from the wand and into the tube, and both products hold your brows in place all day and don't contain any sparkle (I really don't like shimmery brow products - I don't understand them. Why would I make my brows look unnatural by covering them in glitter?).
This gel does exactly what it's meant to do and it doesn't flake. It's easy to remove but I wouldn't say that it's waterproof: I took my daughter swimming this morning and the gel was gone from both my eyelashes and brows by the time I got out of the pool (and I didn't even go underwater - I just got splashed a bit).
The product does make my brows feel firm to the touch but it doesn't look unnatural - not too shiny and not too matte. Just right. I like the larger wand because I do have thick brows and the shape suits me, although it mightn't suit everyone so it's worth checking the wand out before purchase to see if it's right for you.
I've only tried it once on my lashes and it didn't do much for them, just made them look a little more defined. I wouldn't normally wear it on my eyes because I prefer standard mascara, but I wanted to test it out for the purposes of this review. If you're after a super natural look and you've been blessed with great lashes, you might really like this but I prefer it on my eyebrows.
All in all I can't fault this product. It gives me a smooth application with no clumping and natural brows that stay in place all day. And if you wait for specials, you can pick it up for less than $10. What's not to love?
